Job summary

Cruise Whitsundays, part of Journey Beyond, seeks an Electrician to maintain electrical systems on vessels, pontoons and facilities. You will work with the engineering team, perform servicing, inspections and record-keeping, and support maintenance planning in a fast-paced marine environment.

Applicants should have a strong electrical background, ability to work outdoors in varied weather, and a proactive, team-oriented attitude. A valid QLD Electrical License is essential.

Qualifications

HLTAID011 Provide First Aid & CPR (required).
QLD Electrical License (required).
Manual Driving License (required).
Working at Heights (desirable).
Working in confined spaces (desirable).
Forklift Licence (desirable).

Responsibilities

Diagnose issues and perform regular maintenance on electrical and mechanical systems on vessels and facilities.
Maintain logs and documentation in line with SOPs and WHS.
Monitor stock levels and coordinate with Planning Manager for resources.
Adapt to changing conditions to keep vessels well-maintained and operational.

About the role

Reporting to Engineering Operations Manager, the Electrician assists in the electrical and general maintenance of vessels, pontoons, the workshop, terminal, port facilities, and commercial kitchen.

The Electrician will work closely with the engineering team and assist with mechanical maintenance as needed. They will also follow scheduled maintenance programs, completing servicing and electrical governance inspections and record details for administration purposes.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Diagnose issues promptly and execute regular maintenance on all mechanical and electrical systems.
Maintain accurate logs and documentation while adhering to SOPs and WHS requirements.
Monitor maintenance stock levels and inform the Planning Manager to ensure resource availability.
Adapt to changing conditions while ensuring vessels remain well-maintained and operational following maintenance.

About you

The successful candidate will have a strong electrical background, with extensive skills and experience in the field. You will thrive in a fast-paced environment and be comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions. Strong problem-solving skills and a team-oriented approach, complemented by a positive, adaptable “can do” attitude, are essential for success in this role.

To be successful in this role, you will:

Demonstrate a high level of knowledge in electrical systems and installations, with hands-on experience in risk assessments and implementing safety measures.
Exhibit excellent time management and organisational skills, enabling effective prioritisation of tasks, along with strong written and verbal communication abilities.
Have experience in the installation, operation, fault finding, repair, and maintenance of plant equipment, exercising sound judgment in evaluating equipment conditions.
Show a commitment to continuous improvement and maintenance planning techniques, along with a strong work ethic and the ability to work autonomously or as part of a team.
