Job summary

Vena Energy Services (Australia) Pty Ltd is seeking a qualified Electrician for Tailem Bend to support day-to-day O&M of solar and BESS sites. You will work with electricians, trades assistants, apprentices and subcontractors to ensure safe, reliable maintenance and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include SCADA monitoring, HV/MV handling within competency, fault diagnosis, preventative maintenance, stock management and HSSE documentation.

Qualifications

• Year 12 schooling completed.
• Electrical Licence (A Grade / unrestricted) required.
• Class C Manual Licence required.
• At least two years working on an operational solar asset.
• MS Office – Word and Excel proficiency.
• Ability to read and understand technical manuals and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and optimise O&M processes with check sheets and procedures.
• Monitor SCADA for faults, alarms and events.
• Participate in MV/HV maintenance and switching as trained.
• Fault find and repair PV/BESS equipment and inspect facilities.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks and stock audits.
• Support HSSE compliance and incident response on site.

Job description

We are seeking a qualified Electrician to support the day-to-day operations and maintenance of Vena Energy’s solar and BESS sites, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and regulatory compliance. The role will be primarily based at Vena Energy’s Tailem Bend operations, undertaking electrical and maintenance activities required to meet the site’s operational and maintenance objectives. You will work collaboratively with other electricians, trades assistants, apprentices, and electrical subcontractors to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient maintenance outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintenance Management: Assist with establishing check sheets and inspection documentation for equipment to be used during the O&M phase. Assist with establishing specific plans, manuals and procedures. Perform review of schedules, plans and check sheets with the aim to optimise activities and processes. Monitor SCADA for faults, alarms and events. Review performance analysis data to optimise and maximise generation and minimise any downtime. Assist with compiling work activity reports and other data/records used for reporting. Assist in organising electrical work and general work activities for personnel on site.
• Medium Voltage (MV)/ High Voltage (HV) Operations: Write, review or participate in HV switching activities as required to the extent allowable by training and competency. Assist with coordinating and performing maintenance on MV and HV assets.
• Asset (PV / BESS) Operations: Respond to alarms and perform fault finding, diagnosis and repair of equipment when required. Undertake inspections of facility equipment in accordance with any preventative maintenance schedules. Perform electrical based inspections and tests as required for preventative or corrective maintenance. Undertaking work as outlined in preventative maintenance schedules in accordance with management plans, manuals and legislative requirements. Perform regular stock management and audit of spares to ensure required spares are available and correctly stored. Any other general duty required to meet site O&M performance or HSSE KPIs to the extent training and competency permits. Respond to incident, outages and emergencies to the extent training and competency permits. Undertake general duties including cleaning, housekeeping and inventory control as required.
• Risk Assessment and Management: Assist with the implementation of Vena Energy’s Integrated Management System (IMS), across the site. Support with the development and review of HSSE documentation including Risk Registers, SWMS, procedures, permits, audit findings etc. Participate HSSE workshops and other HSSE activities including inspections, audits & investigations.
