Job summary

Vena Energy seeks a qualified Electrician to support day-to-day operations and maintenance of solar and BESS sites. The role is based at Tailem Bend, SA, working with electricians, apprentices and subcontractors to deliver safe, reliable and efficient maintenance outcomes.

Key duties include O&M planning, SCADA monitoring, HV/MV coordination within training, and routine inspections and stock control. Strong safety mindset and ability to read technical docs are essential.

Qualifications

• Year 12 schooling and electrical licence (A grade/unrestricted) required.
• Class C manual licence and at least two years on a solar asset.
• Proficiency with MS Word/Excel and electrical test equipment.
• Ability to read and understand manuals, drawings and procedures.
• Teamwork, safety focus, task management and situation awareness essential.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day O&M and maintenance of Vena Energy solar and BESS sites.
• Collaborate with electricians, trades assistants and subcontractors to ensure safe, reliable operations.
• Monitor SCADA, respond to faults, alarms and events, and inspect equipment per schedules.
• Assist with HV/MV switching and maintenance coordination within training limits.
• Undertake inspections, tests, stock control, and HSSE documentation.
• Contribute to incident response and site housekeeping as required.

Job description

We are seeking a qualified Electrician to support the day-to-day operations and maintenance of Vena Energy’s solar and BESS sites, ensuring optimal performance, safety, and regulatory compliance.

The role will be primarily based at Vena Energy’s Tailem Bend operations, undertaking electrical and maintenance activities required to meet the site’s operational and maintenance objectives. You will work collaboratively with other electricians, trades assistants, apprentices, and electrical subcontractors to deliver safe, reliable, and efficient maintenance outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance Management

• Assist with establishing check sheets and inspection documentation for equipment to be used during the O&M phase.
• Assist with establishing specific plans, manuals and procedures.
• Perform review of schedules, plans and check sheets with the aim to optimise activities and processes.
• Monitor SCADA for faults, alarms and events.
• Review performance analysis data to optimise and maximise generation and minimise any downtime.
• Assist with compiling work activity reports and other data/records used for reporting.
• Assist in organising electrical work and general work activities for personnel on sit.

Medium Voltage (MV)/ High Voltage (HV) Operations

• Write, review or participate in HV switching activities as required to the extent allowable by training and competency.
• Assist with coordinating and performing maintenance on MV and HV assets.

Asset (PV / BESS) Operations

• Respond to alarms and perform fault finding, diagnosis and repair of equipment when required.
• Undertake inspections of facility equipment in accordance with any preventative maintenance schedules.
• Perform electrical based inspections and tests as required for preventative or corrective maintenance.
• Undertaking work as outlined in preventative maintenance schedules in accordance with management plans, manuals and legislative requirements.
• Perform regular stock management and audit of spares to ensure required spares are available and correctly stored.
• Any other general duty required to meet site O&M performance or HSSE KPIs to the extent training and competency permits.
• Respond to incident, outages and emergencies to the extent training and competency permits.
• Undertake general duties including cleaning, housekeeping and inventory control as required.

Risk Assessment and Management

• Assist with the implementation of Vena Energy’s Integrated Management System (IMS), across the site.
• Support with the development and review of HSSE documentation including Risk Registers, SWMS, procedures, permits, audit findings etc.
• Participate HSSE workshops and other HSSE activities including inspections, audits & investigations.

Prerequisites

• Year 12 schooling
• Electrical Licence (A Grade/ unrestricted)
• Class C Manual Licence
• At least two years working on an operational solar asset.
• MS office – Word and Excel.
