Job summary

Hutchison Ports Australia (HPA) seeks a Day shift Electrical Tradesperson for the Sydney International Container Terminal at Botany. Reporting to the Manager – Maintenance, you will perform maintenance including scheduled servicing, breakdowns and fault finding on fixed and mobile equipment with the terminal.

The role requires a valid Electrical Trade Certificate and NSW Electrical Licence, plus experience with PLCs, high voltage and automated heavy equipment.

Qualifications

• Electrical Trade Certificate and NSW Electrical Licence are required.
• Post-trade qualifications in Industrial Electronics/PLCs/SCADA are preferred.
• Experience with fixed and mobile equipment (cranes, reach stackers) is essential.
• Proven PLC fault finding and interrogation skills.
• High voltage systems experience is necessary.

Responsibilities

• Ensure scheduled servicing, breakdowns, fault finding and planned maintenance is carried out in a timely, safe and efficient manner, in accordance with HPA policies and procedures.
• Ensure planned and corrective maintenance is executed to schedule and that servicing / breakdown maintenance is documented with parts in accordance with HPA policies and procedures.
• Address and escalate safety issues per documented policies and procedures.
• Identify and communicate lost time caused by equipment issues and take corrective action.
• Communicate important maintenance information promptly to management and the wider team.
• Liaise with Operations Team as required.

The position of day shift Electrical Tradesperson is located at the Sydney International Container Terminal at Botany (with free onsite parking), reporting to the Manager – Maintenance. The role will be will perform maintenance including (but not limited to) scheduled servicing, breakdowns and fault finding on fixed and mobile equipment with the terminal. You will also perform inspections and preventative maintenance tasks on all equipment and liaise with Shift Coordinator, Maintenance Manager, Engineers and Managers.

You would also be responsible for:

• Ensure scheduled servicing, breakdowns, fault finding and planned maintenance duties is carried out in a timely, safe and efficient manner, in accordance with HPA policies and procedures.
• Ensure planned and corrective maintenance is executed to schedule and that servicing / breakdown maintenance is executed in a timely and efficient manner, and correct documentation of all spare parts is in accordance with HPA policies and procedures
• Ensure safety issues and incidents are addressed and escalated in accordance with documented policies and procedures.
• Take action to identify, communicate and eliminate lost time caused by equipment issues.
• Important maintenance information is communicated in a timely and effective manner to management and the wider team where appropriate.
• Liaise and communicate with Operations Team where required.

The successful candidate will have:

• Relevant and valid Electrical Trade Certificate and Electrically Licensed in NSW
• Relevant and valid post-trade qualification in Industrial Electronics, Electrotechnology, and/or PLCs and SCADA
• Electrical experience with fixed and mobile equipment (i.e. cranes, reach stackers, etc.);
• Proven working knowledge of PLCs, namely fault finding and interrogation;
• Experienced in setup and fault find VS Motor drives;
• Proven experience with High Voltage systems
• Electrical fault finding experience with automated equipment used in an industrial environment;
• Experience in maintaining site service systems, such as Lighting, Emergency systems;
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience working with automated or heavy equipment
• Computer literate with good Microsoft Office skills
• Forklift license and EWP License (Preferred)
• Strong communication skills with an ability to communicate technical information effectively
• Be a team player with strong communication and safety awareness skills
