Job summary

Wilmar Sugar Australia is seeking an Electrician to maintain electrical safety and reliability at Proserpine Mill in North Queensland. This permanent role involves shift work during Crushing and Day work in Maintenance.

You'll install, calibrate, and maintain electrical systems, troubleshoot complex control systems, keep records, and participate in safety programs to support high safety standards and operational efficiency.

Qualifications

• Current Queensland Electrical Work Licence required.
• CPR and Low Voltage Rescue certifications required.
• Cert 3/4 in Instrumentation with experience in fixed plant maintenance and LV motor control/PLC.

Responsibilities

• Power Up Equipment: Install, calibrate, and maintain electrical systems for reliability.
• Diagnose and Optimize: Troubleshoot interconnected circuit systems to keep operations running.
• Keep Records Sharp: Manage departmental plans, databases, and essential documentation.
• System Commissioning & Tuning: Commission and fine-tune electrical systems for peak performance.
• Master Complex Control Systems: Fault finding in complex electrical control systems with LV, PLCs.
• Lead Special Projects: Collaborate on projects driving innovation and improvement.
• Be a Safety Champion: Actively participate in safety improvement teams.

As an Electrician you'll play a vital role in maintaining the electrical safety and reliability of our operations at Proserpine Mill. You'll be at the forefront of ensuring our equipment and systems run smoothly, helping us maintain the highest safety standards and operational efficiency.

This position is based in North Queensland's Mackay region, known for its stunning landscapes, rich agricultural heritage, and a vibrant community. The Mackay region offers a fantastic lifestyle with a warm climate, beautiful beaches and a range of recreational activities, making it a great place to live and work.

This is a permanent position in our factory and requires shift work during the Crushing (June to Dec) and Day work in the Maintenance (Jan to May).

Your Role in Action

• Power Up Equipment: Handle the installation, calibration, and maintenance of critical electrical systems, ensuring everything runs smoothly and efficiently.
• Diagnose and Optimize: Examine, troubleshoot, and fine-tune interconnected circuit systems to keep operations running without a hitch.
• Keep Records Sharp: Manage and maintain departmental plans, databases, and all essential documentation for seamless operations.
• System Commissioning & Tuning: Commission and fine-tune electrical systems to achieve peak performance and reliability.
• Master Complex Control Systems: Tackle fault finding in advanced electrical control systems, working with combinations of pneumatic, electronic, microprocessor-based, and mechanical subsystems.
• Lead Special Projects: Take charge and collaborate on exciting special projects that drive innovation and improvement.
• Be a Safety Champion: Show a strong commitment to safety and actively participate in safety improvement teams.

Your Winning Combination

We're looking for a motivated individual with a current Queensland Electrical Work Licence and post-trade experience in heavy industry electrical or instrumentation work. Current CPR and Low Voltage Rescue certifications are required. Ideally, you'll also have a Cert 3 or 4 in Instrumentation, experience with fixed plant maintenance, and familiarity with LV motor control and PLC systems. Don't have all of the skills yet?
