Job summary

Wilmar Sugar Proserpine Mill invites applications for an Electrical Tradesperson. The role focuses on installing, maintaining and repairing electrical equipment across the mill, with an emphasis on plant reliability and safety.

It offers a permanent full-time position in the Whitsundays region, including a mix of shift work during the crushing season and day work in maintenance season. You'll gain hands-on experience with PLC-based systems, motor control, instrumentation, and renewable energy

Qualifications

• Current Queensland Electrical Work Licence
• Current CPR Certification
• Current Low Voltage Rescue Certification
• Post-trade experience in industrial electrical maintenance
• Ability to work rotating shifts during the crushing season
• Strong commitment to workplace safety

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain and repair electrical equipment across the mill.
• Ensure plant reliability and operational efficiency.
• Diagnose and rectify faults in industrial electrical and control systems.
• Investigate equipment failures and implement effective solutions.
• Maintain and troubleshoot PLC-based systems.
• Support a range of motor control and instrumentation applications.
• Participate in plant upgrades, shutdowns and improvement projects.
• Assist with commissioning new equipment and modifications.
• Complete maintenance records, reports and technical documentation accurately.

Your Role in Action

As part of our Electrical Team, you will:

Maintain Critical Plant Equipment

• Install, maintain and repair electrical equipment across the mill.
• Ensure plant reliability and operational efficiency.

Fault Find and Troubleshoot

• Diagnose and rectify faults in industrial electrical and control systems.
• Investigate equipment failures and implement effective solutions.

Work with Automation and Control Systems

• Maintain and troubleshoot PLC-based systems.
• Support a range of motor control and instrumentation applications.

Drive Continuous Improvement

• Participate in plant upgrades, shutdowns and improvement projects.
• Contribute ideas that improve reliability, efficiency and safety.

Commission and Optimise Equipment

• Assist with commissioning new equipment and modifications.
• Fine-tune systems to achieve optimal performance.

Maintain Documentation

• Complete maintenance records, reports and technical documentation accurately.

Champion Safety

• Demonstrate a strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
• Participate in safety initiatives and continuous improvement activities.

What You'll Be Working On

This is not a repetitive maintenance role.

You’ll gain hands‑on experience across a broad range of industrial equipment and systems including:

• Motors and Motor Control Centres (MCCs)
• PLC and automation systems
• Pumps, conveyors and process equipment
• Instrumentation and control systems
• Renewable energy operations
• Fixed plant maintenance
• Electrical infrastructure and distribution systems

Your Winning Combination

To be successful in this role, you’ll have:

Essential Requirements

• Current Queensland Electrical Work Licence
• Current CPR Certification
• Current Low Voltage Rescue Certification
• Post-trade experience in industrial electrical maintenance
• Strong commitment to workplace safety
• Ability to work rotating shifts during the crushing season

Highly Regarded

• Certificate III or IV in Instrumentation
• Experience in manufacturing, mining, utilities, power generation or heavy industry
• Experience with PLC systems and motor control
• Fixed plant maintenance experienceFault-finding and troubleshooting skills
