Job summary

Hutchison Ports Australia is seeking an experienced Maintenance Electrician to join the Engineering team at Brisbane Container Terminal. This onsite role focuses on scheduled servicing, preventive maintenance, and fault-finding across terminal equipment to ensure safe, reliable operations.

Ideal candidates will hold a Queensland electrical work licence and an electrical trade qualification, with post-trade qualifications in industrial electronics, PLCs or SCADA being highly regarded.

Qualifications

Hutchison Ports Australia (HPA) is a division of Hutchison Ports, the world’s leading port investor, developer and operator, with a network of port operations spanning 52 ports across 26 countries throughout Asia, the Middle East, Africa, Europe, the Americas and Australasia.

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Electrician to join our Engineering team at Brisbane Container Terminal, located at the Port of Brisbane.

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this Level 4 role is responsible for performing scheduled servicing, preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs and electrical fault-finding across the terminal’s fixed and mobile equipment. You will work closely with Maintenance leaders, engineers and the Operations team to support the safe and reliable operation of our terminal equipment.

You will be responsible for:

Completing scheduled servicing, planned maintenance, breakdown repairs and fault-finding safely, efficiently and in accordance with HPA policies and procedures.

Performing inspections and preventative maintenance across fixed and mobile terminal equipment.

Diagnosing electrical faults and completing corrective maintenance to minimise equipment downtime.

Ensuring planned and corrective maintenance is completed in accordance with established schedules.

Accurately completing maintenance records and documenting spare-parts usage.

Identifying, communicating and addressing equipment issues that may result in operational delays or lost time.

Ensuring safety issues and incidents are addressed and escalated in accordance with established procedures.

Communicating important maintenance information to management and the wider team in a timely and effective manner.

Liaising with the Operations team to coordinate maintenance activities and equipment availability.

Undertaking other maintenance or operational duties where appropriately trained and qualified.

The successful candidate will have:

A relevant electrical trade qualification and a current Queensland electrical work licence.

A relevant post-trade qualification or statement of attainment, ideally in industrial electronics, electrotechnology, PLCs or SCADA.

Electrical maintenance experience working with fixed and mobile equipment, such as cranes, reach stackers or similar heavy machinery.

Proven experience with PLC fault-finding and interrogation.

Experience setting up, diagnosing and fault-finding variable-speed motor drives.

Knowledge and experience working with high-voltage systems.

Strong electrical fault-finding experience involving automated equipment within an industrial environment.

Experience maintaining site-service systems, including lighting and emergency systems.

Demonstrated experience working with automated systems or heavy equipment.

Strong communication skills and the ability to explain technical information clearly.

A collaborative approach and strong commitment to workplace safety.

An EWP licence and previous experience within ports, logistics, manufacturing, mining, heavy industry or another large-scale operational environment would be highly regarded.
