Job summary

Hutchison Ports Australia is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the safe, compliant operation of our automated container terminal in Sydney. The role covers heavy industrial assets, HV/LV systems, protection and drive systems, PLCs, and contractor management within a safety-focused environment.

You will advise across terminal assets, ensure compliance with Australian Standards, and contribute to equipment improvements and safe operating procedures.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 3 years’ engineering experience with heavy industrial electrical equipment.
• Experience with High Voltage and Low Voltage equipment, protection systems.
• Experience with drive systems and PLC ladder logic.
• Strong knowledge of Australian Standards and safety legislation.
• Proven ability to manage contractors and technical teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and safety mindset.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional electrical engineering advice across terminal assets.
• Ensure compliance with Australian Standards and government legislation.
• Support development and implementation of electrical procedures and safe work practices.
• Lead or assist with electrical projects and equipment upgrades.
• Manage contractor oversight and procurement activities.
• Promote safe work practices and hazard reporting.
