Job summary

Powertech, a leading Electrical EPC and Services provider, seeks an Electrical Technician with HV and protections experience to support maintenance, commissioning and breakdowns across multiple sites in Western Australia. The role is ongoing casual with 8/6 or 14/14 rosters, based in Pilbara and WA-wide, with travel limited to Perth region flights.

You will work on HV protection systems and primary plant in mining assets.

Qualifications

• WA Electrical Licence (A-Grade) is required.
• Previous mining/resources/heavy industry experience is preferred.
• Strong background in maintenance and breakdown troubleshooting is essential.

Responsibilities

• Execute detailed commissioning and maintenance on complex protection and control systems.
• Perform commissioning and maintenance on HV substation primary plant.
• Ensure safe operation and maintenance of network assets.
• Develop work instructions and procedures for Primary Plant/Protection System assets.

Position Overview:

• Role: Electrical Technician's (HV and Protections experience)
• Roster: 8/6 or 14/14 (Days on/Days off)
• Excellent rate $$$+ Super paid on ALL hours worked
• Duration: Ongoing work well over 12 + months (Open-ended Casual contract)
• Start Date: ASAP 2026
• Location: Pilbara, Western Australia (Working on many sites/client assets)
• POH: WA based (We will not cover flight costs outside of Perth)
• Work Scope- Maintenance, Commissioning and Breakdowns

Scope of Work:

• Execute detailed commissioning and maintenance on complex protection and control systems
• Execute professional commissioning and maintenance on HV substation primary plant
• Take responsibility for the safe and efficient operation and maintenance of all network assets
• Develop Work Instructions, Task Lists, Procedures for the Primary Plant/Protection System Assets under control of HV & Power, Eastern
• Ensure safe completion and close-out of Primary Plant/Protection System works on a daily basis
• Execute critical Shutdowns, ensuring trouble-free maintenance windows and handback
• Initiating and / or participating in continuous improvement projects
• Liaising with Mine & Town Stakeholders to ensure a safe and efficient service
• Ability to identify problems, implement solutions to manage departmental and company supply chain risk
• Ensure conformance with the client Documents, Code of Conduct and relevant statutory obligations.
• An overriding commitment to health, safety, environment responsibility and sustainable development

About You:

• WA Electrical Licence (A-Grade)
• Previous experience in mining, resources, or heavy industry
• Strong background in maintenance and breakdown troubleshooting
• HV switching
• Proven maintenance & commissioning experience in a Power Utility environment – Protection Systems, Switchyards, Primary Plant – essential
• Proven experience with High Voltage/Protection Systems in a Mining environment – highly regarded
• Proficiency with setup, commissioning, and monitoring of various Protection Relay schemes, manufacturers etc. Proficiency with the 'Omicron' suite of Protection Equipment will be highly regarded
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills are key components of this role as you will work closely with a variety of stakeholders
• Experience with computerised maintenance management systems (SAP experience is highly desirable)
• The ability to apply expertise to analyse and solve problems without clear precedent
• Ability to work in remote FIFO environments and shift rosters
• CPR LVR
• First Aid
• High Risk Work Licence with any/all of WP, CV, LF, Dogging/Rigging endorsements - highly regarded
