Laing O'Rourke is seeking an Electrical Supervisor to join the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance in Melbourne. You will coordinate electrical construction activities to deliver safe, compliant, and efficient project outcomes through strong supervision.

The role requires Victorian A-Grade Electrical Licence, proven experience in construction delivery, and the ability to lead subcontractors, suppliers and the direct workforce while upholding Australian standards and safety practices.

Qualifications

• Victorian A-Grade Electrical Licence and trade qualification.
• Experience delivering construction/infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of electrical installations and Australian standards.
• Experience leading subcontractors, suppliers, and direct workforce.
• Strong leadership, planning, stakeholder engagement and safety leadership.
• Commissioning and Permit to Work experience.

Responsibilities

• Supervise site operations and subcontractor performance.
• Drive safety culture with hazard identification, risk management and compliance.
• Plan and coordinate site resources, labour, materials, plant and permits.
• Build relationships with clients, project teams, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Lead site pre-starts and toolbox talks.

About the opportunity

The Victorian Government is upgrading the Eastern Freeway with new express lanes, new traffic management technology and Melbourne’s first dedicated busway. These changes will slash travel times and improve public transport in Melbourne’s east.

Laing O'Rourke is part of the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance with Major Road Projects Victoria, Symal, Arcadis and WSP. Our scope of work includes a new interchange connecting the Eastern Freeway to the North EastLink tunnels, major road and bridge upgrades between Burke Road and Tram Road, smart traffic management technology upgrades and new noise protection to meet Victoria’s toughest traffic noise standards. The local community will also benefit from new and upgraded walking and cycling connections, upgrades to Koonung Creek Reserve and revitalised wetlands and open spaces.

About the role

We are seeking a Electrical Supervisor to join the Eastern Freeway – Burke to Tram Alliance. Coordinate electrical construction activities to deliver safe, compliant and efficient project outcomes through effective supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Supervising site operations and subcontractor performance to achieve project objectives and construction milestones.
• Driving a strong safety culture through proactive hazard identification, risk management, and compliance with legislative and company requirements.
• Planning and coordinating site resources, including labour, materials, plant, equipment, permits and work activities.
• Building effective relationships with clients, project teams, suppliers, and subcontractors through clear and professional communication.
• Leading site teams through pre-starts, toolbox talks
• Identifying site issues, managing project risks, and implementing practical solutions to improve delivery outcomes and productivity.
• Ensuring all works are completed in accordance with applicable safety standards and project specifications.

About you

• Victorian A-Grade Electrical Licence and relevant trade qualification.
• Previous construction delivery experience in the construction/infrastructure industry
• Strong knowledge electrical installations and Australian standards
• Demonstrated experience leading subcontractors, suppliers, and direct workforce personnel.
• Strong leadership, planning, stakeholder engagement, and people management skills.
• Have excellent client interface, coordination, time management and safety leadership skills
• Commissioning and Permit to work experience
