Job summary

ACCIONA Australia is seeking a dedicated Project Engineer – Electrical for the Central-West Orana REZ transmission project in NSW. The role supports the design, construction and commissioning phases within our Energy Hubs and Substations teams.

The position involves a DIDO on-site roster (14 days on site, 7 days off site) and a focus on safety, quality, and timely delivery. Strong stakeholder collaboration and governance adherence are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (required).
• 3–7 years’ experience in a Tier 1 Contractor environment preferred.
• Experience constructing outdoor air-insulated substations and substations at 220kV or above preferred.
• Problem solving/analytical skills demonstrated.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent safety mindset and workplace awareness.
• Highly developed Microsoft Office Suite skills.
• Knowledge of project policies, procedures, and contractual requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop relationships with project personnel and external stakeholders to maintain a collaborative environment.
• Maintain high attention to detail and strong organisational/record-management skills.
• Manage time effectively to complete work within required timeframes.
• Attend and contribute to pre-start meetings, toolbox talks and team meetings.
• Conduct site walks with peers and supervision to monitor progress.
• Report and rectify downtime and non-conformances per quality procedures.
• Monitor progress and financial performance versus budget; address issues.
• Ensure timely commercial deliverables: progress claims, variations, subcontractor claims.
• Contribute to site lookahead and construction program for risk/opportunity.
• Implement risk controls to improve safety, financial and engineering performance; communicate them clearly.
• Maintain a robust interface with construction/engineering teams.
• Analyse equipment needs and prepare a plant schedule; assist procurement.
