Job summary

Alcoa is seeking an experienced Electrical Superintendent to lead maintenance and electrical safety at the Portland Aluminium site. Reporting to the Maintenance & Reliability Manager, you will govern HV/LV systems, drive safety compliance, and guide continuous improvement across electrical teams and contractors.

This leadership role requires strong technical capability, regulatory oversight, and the ability to manage incident investigations and audits while operating within an on-call roster.

Qualifications

• A relevant electrical qualification with extensive experience in electrical & instrumentation maintenance in a complex industrial environment.
• Strong knowledge of electrical safety, HV/LV systems, switching activities and compliance requirements.
• Proven leadership to develop capability, set expectations and coach high-performing teams.
• Experience managing electrical safety systems, regulatory audits, incident investigations and corrective actions.

Responsibilities

• Provide site-wide leadership and governance for electrical & instrumentation maintenance and electrical safety.
• Act as the site Electrical Safety Authority and maintain the Electrical Safety Management System.
• Oversee safe operation of HV/LV systems, switching activities and system upgrades.
• Lead electrical audits, regulatory engagement, incident investigations and corrective actions closures.
• Improve asset availability and reliability through preventive maintenance and root-cause analysis.
• Develop capability of electrical and instrumentation staff through coaching and training.
• Support infrastructure upgrades and advise on equipment suitability and serviceability.
• Drive continuous improvement in maintenance effectiveness, safety and cost efficiency.
