Job summary

Ampcontrol is seeking an Electrical Fitter for our transformer workshop in Tomago, NSW. You will manufacture, assemble, test and overhaul power transformers, contributing to both new builds and overhauls in a hands-on environment.

In this role you’ll work mainly in the workshop with occasional site visits, read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams, and collaborate across multiple teams to ensure safety and quality outcomes. A trade certificate and driver’s licence are required.

Job description

Join our Transformers team as an Electrical Fitter, based at our modern workshop in Tomago.

Ampcontrol’s Transformer facility specialises in the design, manufacture, overhaul and repair of custom-built power transformers, delivering engineered solutions for complex equipment requirements.

We manufacture transformers up to 80MVA at 132kV and overhaul and repair units weighing up to 80 tonnes.

As an Electrical Fitter, you’ll play an important role in the manufacture, assembly, testing, servicing and overhaul of power transformers. You’ll work across both new builds and transformer overhauls, primarily in the workshop, with occasional opportunities to work at customer sites.

What We're Looking For

We’re looking for a skilled and motivated Electrical Fitter who takes pride in their work and is committed to delivering safe, high-quality outcomes.

To be successful, you’ll have:

• An Electrical Trade Certificate
• Valid driver's licence
• A strong commitment to safety and quality
• Experience working with electrical plant and equipment, including repairs and overhauls
• The ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wiring diagrams
• A cooperative, flexible and team-focused approach
• The ability to work effectively across multiple teams
• Power transformer experience is desirable but not essential
• A willingness to occasionally travel to customer sites

Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who enjoys a hands-on workshop environment, takes pride in their work and is keen to continue developing their technical skills.
