Job summary

HIX is seeking experienced Electrical Fire Technicians to join our team in Penrith, NSW. This project-focused role covers installation, commissioning, programming, fault finding, and rectification of fire detection and alarm systems across commercial, industrial, and government facilities.

You'll be equipped from day one with a fully maintained company vehicle, quality equipment, modern technology, and the support of an experienced team.

Qualifications

• Current Electrical Licence is required.
• Current Driver's Licence is required.
• White Card is required.
• Experience with fire detection and alarm systems is essential.
• Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Full Australian working rights.

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, program and rectify fire detection and alarm systems.
• Work with Fire Indicator Panels (FIPs), EWIS, VESDA and related equipment.
• Carry out fault finding, diagnostics and system repairs.
• Install and upgrade emergency and exit lighting systems.
• Complete site documentation and compliance records.
• Liaise with clients and stakeholders to deliver quality outcomes.
• Collaborate with Project Managers and fellow Technicians.
• Maintain safe work practices and comply with Australian Standards.

Hourly Rate: $60 - $75 per hour, plus superannuation

The Role

This is a project-focused role where you'll work on the installation, commissioning, programming, fault finding, and rectification of fire detection and alarm systems across commercial, industrial, and government facilities. Whether you're currently working as a Fire Technician, Fire Panel Technician, Fire Systems Technician, or a licensed Electrician with fire industry experience, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

• Install, commission, program and rectify fire detection and alarm systems
• Work with Fire Indicator Panels (FIPs), EWIS, VESDA and associated equipment
• Carry out fault finding, diagnostics and system repairs
• Install and upgrade emergency and exit lighting systems
• Assist with fire system testing and commissioning activitiesComplete site documentation and compliance records
• Liaise with clients and stakeholders to deliver quality outcomes
• Work closely with Project Managers, Supervisors and fellow Technicians
• Maintain safe work practices and compliance with Australian Standards

Your Education, Experience & Skills

Essential

• Current Electrical Licence
• Current Driver's Licence
• White Card
• Experience working with fire detection and alarm systems
• Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Full Australian working rights

Highly Regarded

• Experience programming Fire Indicator Panels
• Experience with EWIS and VESDA systems
• Experience within the fire services industry
• Knowledge of Australian Standards and fire industry requirements
• Experience using electronic job management systems
