Guardian Safety Solutions Pty Ltd – Sydney CBD NSW is seeking an experienced Fire Panel Technician to join our Sydney team. This hands-on role focuses on Fire Indicator Panels, Occupant Warning Systems, and EWIS across multiple manufacturers and system types.

The role services sites across Sydney, the South Coast and regional NSW, with travel and occasional overnight stays. Candidates should be confident with fault finding, annual testing and SIT, and be willing to assist with routine

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Fire Indicator Panels (FIP), Occupant Warning Systems (OWS) and EWIS across manufacturers.
• Strong fault-finding, annual testing and SIT capabilities.
• Willingness to assist with routine maintenance per AS 1851 and AS/NZS 2293.
• Current Australian driver’s licence and safe working practices.

Responsibilities

• Carry out fault finding, servicing and repairs on FIP, OWS and EWIS systems.
• Diagnose faults in fire detection, communication loops and interfaces.
• Perform annual testing of fire detection and alarm systems.
• Lead SIT testing and assist with system programming where applicable.
• Test detectors, modules and related field equipment; prepare accurate reports.

Guardian Safety Solutions is currently seeking an experienced Fire Panel Technician to join our growing Sydney team.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong experience working with Fire Indicator Panels (FIP), Occupant Warning Systems (OWS) and Emergency Warning and Intercommunication Systems (EWIS) across a variety of manufacturers and system types.

The role will primarily service sites across Sydney and the South Coast, with some regional NSW travel required depending on project and client requirements. This may occasionally include overnight stays, which will be planned in advance wherever possible.

We are looking for a technician who is confident with fault finding, annual testing and System Interface Testing (SIT) and who has the technical ability to diagnose problems rather than simply identify them.

Basic fire panel programming experience is highly desirable. While this role has a strong focus on fire detection and alarm systems, the successful applicant will also be willing to assist with routine fire maintenance and testing in accordance with AS 1851 and AS/NZS 2293 when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out fault finding, servicing and repairs on a wide variety of FIP, OWS and EWIS systems
• Diagnose fire detection, communication, loop, device and system faults
• Carry out annual testing of fire detection and alarm systems
• Take a leading role in annual fire detection testing and associated system testing
• Undertake and assist with System Interface Testing (SIT)
• Test fire alarm interfaces with mechanical, security, access control, lifts and other associated building systems
• Assist with fire panel programming, configuration and system modifications within your level of competency
• Carry out testing of detectors, modules, interfaces, sounders, speakers and associated field equipment
• Identify defects and compliance issues and provide clear recommendations for rectification
• Complete accurate service reports, test records and job documentation
• Liaise with clients, facility managers, contractors and other trades during testing and fault-finding works
• Carry out routine inspection, testing and maintenance in accordance with AS 1851, AS/NZS 2293 and other applicable Australian Standards
• Assist with general fire maintenance activities when required
• Travel to sites throughout Sydney, the South Coast and regional NSW as required
• Ensure all works are completed safely and to a high technical and professional standard

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience as a Fire Alarm Technician, Fire Panel Technician, Fire Systems Technician or similar
• Strong hands-on experience with Fire Indicator Panels and fire detection systems
• Experience fault finding across a variety of fire panel manufacturers and system types
• Experience working with OWS and/or EWIS systems
• Good understanding of fire detection system operation, field devices, loops, interfaces and networking
• Experience carrying out annual fire detection testing
• Experience with System Interface Testing (SIT) is highly regarded
• Basic fire panel programming knowledge is highly desirable
• Ability to interpret system drawings, zone block plans, cause-and-effect requirements and other technical documentation
• Working knowledge of AS 1851 and relevant Australian Standards
• Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical issues
• Willingness to assist with general fire equipment maintenance and testing when required
• Willingness and ability to undertake regional travel and occasional overnight stays
• Relevant fire industry qualifications, licences and/or accreditation applicable to the work being performed
• Current Australian driver's licence
• Strong commitment to safety, quality and compliance

Experience across multiple fire panel manufacturers is highly desirable. We are particularly interested in technicians who enjoy fault finding and technical problem solving and are comfortable taking the lead on Annual testing and SIT works.
