Job summary

Gilmour Space Technologies in Yatala, Queensland, is seeking an Electrical Engineer I to join our space hardware team. You will be part of a dynamic engineering group delivering cutting-edge electrical systems for rocket hardware and software, contributing to a range of design, analysis, and testing activities on site.

The role supports R&D efforts and requires collaboration with suppliers and production teams, with a focus on rigorous verification and alignment to project requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Ability to operate in dynamic, fast paced environments.
• Demonstrated resilience in high stress situations.
• NV1 Security Clearance eligible preferred.

Responsibilities

• Contribute as part of a team of Electrical Engineers to deliver hardware products.
• Develop Electrical Engineering designs, processes and activities.
• Act as Responsible Engineer for hardware and/or software produced by the Electrical Engineering team.
• Follow product development processes including requirements, design, review, procurement, assembly, integration and verification/validation.
• Conduct technical analysis, trade studies, and sizing of solutions.
• Support investigations, troubleshooting, modifications and fixes.
• Support R&D activities.
• Engage with external suppliers, subcontractors and stakeholders.
• Ensure activities and documentation comply with company policies, plans and procedures.
• Take on other duties as requested by Management.

• Contributing as part of a team of Electrical Engineers to deliver hardware products
• Participating in the development of Electrical Engineering designs, processes and activities
• To undertake accountability as a Responsible Engineer for hardware and/or software produced by the Electrical Engineering team
• Adhering to and participating in product development engineering processes including: requirements definition, preliminary / detailed design, review, procurement / manufacture, assembly, integration and verification / validation
• Conduct technical analysis, trade studies, design and sizing of solutions
• Supporting investigations, troubleshooting, modifications and fixes / repairs
• Supporting execution of Research and Development activities
• Engaging with external suppliers, subcontractors and stakeholders
• Ensure engineering activities and documentation are conducted in accordance with Gilmour Space policies, plans and procedures
• Other duties as requested by Management

Minimum Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a relevant qualification
• Ability to operate in dynamic, fast paced environments
• Demonstrated resilience in high stress situations
• NV1 Security Clearance eligible preferred.

Desired Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Experience with electrical motors, actuators, batteries, power systems, or electrical wiring interconnection systems
• Experience working with industrial automation technology such as SCADA and PLCs
• Exposure to C/C++, electronics, FPGA's, and embedded programming
• Familiarity with the National Instruments platform, particularly LabVIEW
• Familiarity with HMI design.
• Exceptional time management, communication, and people skills
• Ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) with Engineering and Production teams
• Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high-paced, challenging work environment
• Ability to work efficiently in a team environment with a desire and willingness to assist other team members in the general day to day running of the department
