Job summary

Specialist Electrical Solutions (SES), part of the BGW Group, is a leading Australian-owned manufacturer of low-voltage switchboards and engineered electrical solutions. SES seeks an experienced Electrical Draftsperson / Switchboard Designer to join our Brisbane-based team and contribute to diverse, technically challenging projects.

You will design and draft main switchboards, distribution boards, MCCs, and control panels, using AutoCAD, while maintaining drawing accuracy and standards

Qualifications

• Previous electrical drafting experience is essential.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar CAD platform.
• Demonstrated experience in switchboard design and/or switchboard assembly.
• Ability to confidently read and interpret a range of electrical drawings and schematics.
• Sound working knowledge of AS/NZS 61439, AS/NZS 3000, SIRs, and metering installation requirements.
• Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders across multiple disciplines.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
• Experience within industrial, utilities, water and energy will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

• Design and drafting of Main switchboards, distribution switchboards, motor control centres, control panels and associated systems.
• Produce detailed switchboard layouts, single-line diagrams, and assembly drawings using AutoCAD.
• Preparation of sheet metal fabrication drawings and manufacturing documentation.
• Work collaboratively with Project Managers and production teams to ensure documentation supports project requirements.
• Develop and maintaining CAD blocks, templates, and libraries.
• Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on design efficiency, standardisation, and quality.
