Job summary

TasNetworks is seeking a Technical Officer to deliver distribution network designs and cost estimates that enable connection to Tasmania's electricity network. You will assess options for overhead and underground feeds, ensure safety, compliance and cost-effectiveness, and provide clear guidance to customers and internal teams.

Based in Hobart, you will work across assets including overhead, underground, substations and street lighting, applying sound design and estimating tools to deliver

Qualifications

• Experience in electrical distribution, technical design, drafting or a related field.
• Working knowledge of overhead, underground, substation and street lighting assets.
• Strong customer focus with the ability to provide practical and professional advice.
• Sound technical problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Proficient in design and estimating tools, with the ability to deliver accurate and compliant outcomes.
• Current valid driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Prepare compliant overhead and underground distribution designs and cost estimates within agreed timeframes.
• Assess connection options and recommend practical, cost-effective solutions.
• Complete technical assessments and calculations to support safe and reliable network connections.
• Provide customers with clear and accurate advice on connection requirements and design outcomes.
• Maintain high standards of quality, accuracy and compliance across all design activities.
