Job summary

Apprenticeships Are Us is offering a 1st Year Light Vehicle Mechanic Apprenticeship in Homebush and surrounding areas, NSW, focusing on electric vehicle technology and diagnostics. You’ll study the AUR30620 Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology while working with experienced technicians in a modern dealership.

No prior automotive experience is required; training starts immediately with mentoring and government support where eligible. PPE is provided throughout the apprenticeship.

Qualifications

• A hands-on and mechanically minded approach.

• The ability to work effectively as part of a professional workshop team.
• A current driver’s licence (P1 or above preferred).

Responsibilities

• Service and maintain electric and conventional light vehicles.
• Carry out scheduled servicing and vehicle inspections.
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using modern diagnostic equipment.
• Develop knowledge of electric vehicle battery and high‑voltage systems under supervision.
• Assist with repairs and maintenance of braking, steering and suspension systems.
• Use manufacturer-approved diagnostic equipment and specialised workshop tools.
• Identify faults and develop diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
• Follow high‑voltage safety procedures.
• Maintain a clean, organised workshop environment.
• Support day-to-day workshop operations while developing trade skills.
