Executive Level 2 – AED 136,260.00 and AED 177,318.00 plus 15.4% super (part‑time pro‑rata).

About our team

The Architecture, Design and Security (ADS) Branch is located within the Strategy, Digital and Data Division and is responsible for setting the strategic architecture direction for the Department, enabling alignment between long‑term strategies, feasibility and business needs. The ADS Branch works closely with business units and other stakeholders to provide guidance and support around architecture design, delivery, governance and sustainment decisions.

The Technology and Security Architecture section operates within the broader context of the ADS Branch, defines and guides the Department's core technology and security foundations. The section sets architecture strategies, roadmaps, design direction, decision support and governance for core technology platforms, IT infrastructure and cyber security; ensuring technology is secure, aligned with business outcomes, and built for agility and long‑term value. The section drives strategic planning, defines the enterprise target state, and enables informed investment decisions.

Security Architecture guides and supports the organisation in right‑sizing cyber security and embedding fit‑for‑purpose security protection into all systems.

Qualifications
  • Subject Matter Expert in Security Architecture with proven ability to analyse emerging trends, assess impacts and opportunities, develop strategy, standards, and guidelines.
  • Proven ability to provide high‑quality advice to senior executives to shape strategic thinking, develop target state and roadmaps, translate business and technical requirements into practical reference architecture, design, and operating models.
  • Experience in designing the security of business solutions, infrastructure capabilities and integration technologies with proven ability to collaboratively translate and solve business, technical and security requirements into effective security designs which balance risk and reward.
  • Proactively develop and improve architecture processes and frameworks, apply best practices and collaborate within and outside their immediate work area.
  • Deep technical experience and knowledge so as to collaborate with a range of stakeholders including subject matter experts, communicate conflicting ideas, and sustain robust conversations to contest design decisions.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Keep up to date with emerging technology and threats, formulate the enterprise target state and develop roadmaps relating to cyber security architecture and supporting capabilities.
  • Provide high‑quality advice to senior stakeholders and contribute to the wider strategic planning of the Department and collaborate with stakeholders to produce and maintain design reuse guidelines, patterns, requirements, and principles.
  • Assess the "security fitness" of proposed solutions to provide feedback to improve design outcomes, better manage relevant threats and increase viability.
  • Drive the embedding of secure by design into our processes, practices, and systems, and maintain security architecture frameworks and governance processes.
  • Explore and research innovative solutions to security problems and constraints.
Additional Information
  • Demonstrated ability and 10 years or more experience in security architecture and design.
  • Preferred Computer Security Industry qualifications such as CISSP, CISA, CISM, cyber security degree or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of technology & enabling architecture vertical domain as well as the horizontal enterprise integration, security, cyber, and ICT infrastructure architecture domains.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in designing security for a range of technologies and business problems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Australian Government security frameworks, strategies, standards, governance processes, and understanding of industry trends and emerging technologies associated with architecture discipline.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of industry standard and organisationally accepted security principles, security design methods and security patterns.
  • Experience in stakeholder engagement across ICT and business stakeholders across the Department and Portfolio agencies.
  • To be eligible for the position you must be an Australian Citizen.
  • The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain a Baseline Vetting (AGSVA) security clearance, and:
    • ABF Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC).
    • Home Affairs Workers will also be required to obtain and maintain an Onboarding Check.
  • In certain circumstances, an Employment Suitability Clearance (ESC) may be required in addition to, or in lieu of, an Onboarding Check, which will be determined by the delegate as necessary.
