HorizonOne Recruitment represents a federal government organisation in Canberra embarking on an ERP modernisation program to move from SAP ECC6 to SAP S/4HANA, delivering enterprise-wide capability uplift.
The Program Director will lead the ERP Modernisation Program, coordinating with executives, business leaders, vendors and technology teams to ensure on-time delivery, governance and measurable business outcomes across scope, schedule and budget.
Our client is a highly respected federal government organisation operating within one of Australia’s most visible and complex environments. With significant investment underway in enterprise capability uplift, they are embarking on a major ERP modernisation program designed to improve operational performance, standardisation, governance, and long-term business capability.
As part of this strategic transformation, an opportunity now exists for an experienced Program Director to lead a large-scale ERP modernisation initiative transitioning from SAP ECC6 to SAP S/4HANA. This is a solid opportunity to take ownership of a high-profile enterprise program with strong executive visibility, meaningful stakeholder engagement, and genuine influence across business and technology functions.
This role is initially offered as a 12-month full-time non-ongoing opportunity (or temporary transfer for an existing EL2), with a further 6-month extension option and the potential for permanency for the right candidate. It will suit a highly capable program manager who thrives in complex environments and enjoys driving enterprise-wide transformation outcomes. You will work closely with senior executives, business leaders, vendors, and technology teams to coordinate the successful delivery of a major ERP transformation program. While SAP exposure is highly regarded, the organisation is seeking a strategic delivery leader rather than a deeply technical SAP specialist. You’ll join a collaborative environment where communication, stakeholder engagement, governance, and leadership capability are highly valued.
Reporting directly to the SES Band 1 and senior governance committee comprising executives and business SMEs.
You are an experienced transformation leader with a strong background delivering large-scale ERP or enterprise modernisation programs within government or similarly complex environments. You bring a balanced mix of strategic leadership, delivery management, and stakeholder engagement capability, and can confidently operate across both business and technology domains. Exposure to SAP environments, ideally migrations, along with experience leading multidisciplinary teams within regulated environments and holding a Baseline Clearance would be highly regarded.
