EL1 Communications Manager - 3 month contract

The RoleWe're seeking an experienced Communications Manager to join a small government agency for an initial three month period, but an extension is possible.

We’re seeking an experienced communications professional who has a strong track record of developing and delivering agency-wide corporate communications strategies and plans. You’ll take the lead on this piece of work, operating with a high degree of autonomy while drawing on the support and collaboration of a small, established communications team.

This is a great opportunity for a strategic thinker who can translate an organisation’s corporate priorities into a clear, actionable communications strategy that drives alignment and delivers meaningful outcomes.

The initial contract is for three months, with the possibility of an extension depending on the scope of the Corporate Plan and ongoing business requirements.

Duties

  • Develop a corporate communications strategy aligned with the organisation's newly finalised Corporate Plan.
  • Translate corporate objectives and priorities into practical communications strategies, plans and deliverables.
  • Work collaboratively with the Communications and Media team to understand organisational needs and existing communication activities.
  • Engage with senior stakeholders and business areas to identify communication priorities and ensure strategic alignment.
  • Provide expert advice on corporate communications planning, messaging and stakeholder engagement.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen communications capability, consistency and effectiveness across the organisation.
  • Develop recommendations and an actionable approach to implementing the corporate communications strategy.

To be considered for this opportunity, you'll need

  • Demonstrated experience developing corporate communications strategies, ideally translating a corporate or organisational plan into a strategic communications framework
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex information and develop clear, actionable recommendations
  • The ability to work autonomously, manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within a short timeframe
  • Experience working in a government environment (essential)

Eligibility
