Job summary

Australian Department of Defence – Canberra ACT is seeking a procurement professional to manage complex procurement and contract activities within the Maritime Integrated Warfare Systems (MIWS) Branch. You will engage with industry and provide Commonwealth support for procurement practices, delivering value for money across contracts.

Ideal candidates will have procurement management experience, the ability to influence stakeholders, and strong knowledge of ASDEFCON contracts and governance.

The Role

The Maritime Integrated Warfare Systems (MIWS) Branch is a very busy organisation which is never dull and no two days are the same. MIWS has an exciting role within the MIWS Commercial matrix team:

You could be working alongside industry, with the Combat Systems Integration, Integrated Project Team (CSI-IPT) or with the Enterprise Partnering Team (EPA), or one of our other exciting contracts. You will be responsible for engaging and providing Commonwealth support to the delivery of the procurement and contract management practices on behalf of MIWS or supporting Industry in their delivery of outcomes.

This may include the development of tasking statements and delivery activities; provision of advice to industry teams to influence and inform best practice; and guide contractible value for money outcomes for the Commonwealth.

MIWS Branch under Major Surface Combatants and Combat Systems Division is an exciting and complex environment to work in, offering a rewarding career in one of the most dynamic organisations within NSSG. We work across both Acquisition and Sustainment environments to develop and deliver products into new shipbuilding programs and to provide update/upgrade products to the existing RAN fleet, giving staff exposure to a wide variety of high profile maritime projects.

Our Ideal Candidate

The candidate will need to have experience in procurement management. They will have the ability to influence and guide team members and key stakeholders to deliver business outcomes for the contract. The candidate will be able to communicate strategic direction and organisational policy and processes to achieve required outcomes.

This includes the evaluation and provision of recommendations on procurement aspects to industry and the Commonwealth. The candidate will have clear and consistent communication, whilst managing and accurately completing work within timeframes.

Candidate will be required to:

• Ensure compliance with legislation, policies, processes and procedures.
• Apply procurement expertise to provide advice on Defence and government matters and reporting.
• Understand and apply Defence’s mission and business objectives as they relate to procurement.
