Job summary

Qualifications

• Exceptional executive stakeholder engagement and the ability to translate complex technical issues into clear, actionable advice.
• Experience producing enterprise architecture artefacts, blueprints, roadmaps, and strategic options analyses.

Responsibilities

The Role

We are seeking two EL 1 Enterprise Architects to support the architecture design and uplift of Defence’s evolving digital ecosystem. Located within the Enterprise Architecture Infrastructure and Cloud Platforms Directorate, this role is responsible for developing enterprise-level architectures spanning on-premises, hybrid and multi-cloud environments, with a focus on infrastructure and cloud hosting. You will work closely with stakeholders across the organisation to ensure end-to-end architectural coherence, strategic alignment, and informed investment decision-making.

The role provides architectural leadership across complex, large-scale environments, enabling secure, resilient, and high-performing technology outcomes that support Defence’s operational and strategic needs. The position requires the ability to provide authoritative advice and produce high-quality written artefacts, such as architecture blueprints, strategy papers, options analyses, and executive decision briefs with a high degree of independence.

This role is eligible for an additional remuneration benefit known in Defence as a Building Defence Capability Payment (BDCP). This enables Defence to provide a premium, in addition to the base salary otherwise payable under the Defence Enterprise Collective Agreement (DECA), for positions in occupational disciplines/classifications that are critical to Defence capability. Architecture and Strategy Branch provides strategic digital, technology and architectural advice, guidance, guardrails and governance spanning the Defence digital landscape supporting outcomes for Defence war-fighters, civilians, leadership, programs, projects and capability owners.

• Exceptional executive stakeholder engagement, verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical issues into clear and actionable advice.
• Demonstrated experience producing enterprise architecture artefacts, architectural assessments including blueprints, technology roadmaps, architectural recommendations and strategic options analyses.
