The ideal candidate holds a Work Health and Safety qualification, deep WHS knowledge, and strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to foster a safety-focused, high-quality culture on site.

Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of commercial construction industry.
  • Formal qualifications in Work Health and Safety (e.g. Cert IV or Diploma).
  • Deep understanding of Australian WHS, codes of practice, and industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage Quality Management Plans, Project Management Plans and Safety in Design Plans across multiple projects.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and audits to monitor construction quality, safety and the environment.
  • Collaborate with site teams to ensure all construction works meet project specifications, codes, and standards.
  • Oversee the management of quality documentation including ITPs, NCRs, and defect records.
  • Coordinate subcontractor quality compliance and drive best practices.
  • Assist in the preparation of overall system compliance across Quality, Safety and the Environment.
  • Support the safety team with safety inspections and administration, including SWMS reviews, toolbox talks, and hazard reporting.
  • Work closely with WHS team to promote a strong safety and quality culture.
  • Provide training and mentoring on quality procedures to site staff and subcontractors.
  • Participate in project handovers and ensure all quality documentation is completed and submitted.

Job description

We are seeking a pro-active and detail-oriented EHS Officer to join our growing team. You will perform site inspections, project audits and report preparation, while actively contributing to a positive teamwork environment. The role involves interaction with external customers (subcontractors, clients, consultants, suppliers, local authorities) and internal customers in a multidisciplinary, fast-paced and demanding environment requiring travel.

Key responsibilities

About you
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the commercial construction industry
  • Formal qualifications in Work Health and Safety (e.g. Cert IV or Diploma) preferred
  • Deep understanding of Australian WHS, codes of practice, and industry standards
  • Understanding of Environmental Legislation
  • Understanding of Quality Assurance Requirements
  • Strong communication skills - written and verbal
  • Computer literacy - Google workspace, MS Office, MS Project
  • High-level analytical, problem solving and creative thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently with a project team
