Job summary

Refraction Media Pty Ltd. is seeking an experienced editor to lead a small editorial team and work closely with our partnerships team, designers, freelancers and clients.

You’ll shape publications and hands-on produce ideas, interviews, writing and editing, while keeping projects moving. The role emphasizes client-facing collaboration, strong WordPress publishing, and digital campaigns across print and web, with a focus on science, education and youth audiences.

Qualifications

• Experienced editor or senior journalist with a track record delivering publications or content projects.
• Ability to translate complex topics into accessible stories for diverse audiences and balance deadlines and budgets.
• Comfortable working directly with clients and supporting colleagues in a small, collaborative team.
• Extensive experience with WordPress.
• Knowledge of Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly InDesign and Photoshop.
• Confident using Canva, Mailchimp and other digital publishing tools.
• Experience in science, education, careers or youth publishing highly valued.
• Experience delivering commercial or custom publishing projects highly valued.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver print and digital editorial across our publications and client projects.
• Write and edit engaging, accurate content for student, educator and professional audiences.
• Lead and support our editorial team and freelance contributors.
• Manage schedules, commissioning, approvals and production deadlines.
• Build strong relationships with clients, researchers and education partners.
• Maintain editorial quality and consistency across sponsored and independent content.
• Manage social media campaigns using scheduling tools.
• Plan and manage digital campaigns in Google Ads, and track performance using Google Analytics.
