Flying Bark Productions, a renowned animation studio in Sydney, is seeking editorial support specialists to assist editors across multiple high-profile projects. You will manage imports/exports in Avid, help craft animatics, and coordinate dialogue, sound cues and music to ensure polished final cuts.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of Avid Media Composer.
• Experience with editorial workflows and animatics is a plus.
• Strong eye for detail and quality control.

Responsibilities

• Provide editorial assistance and technical support to the Editor.
• Manage import/export of files in Avid Media Composer to production needs.
• Collaborate with Editors on animatics, dialogue takes, sound cues and music cues.
• Assist assembling sequences for review by editors.
• Deliver and update scenes to editorial.
• Track dialogue changes from scratch to final dialogue.
• Record scratch tracks as required by Production/Director/Editor.
• Help build and maintain a library of sound effects and music cues.
• Participate in story and edit pipeline meetings to ensure smooth production.

Job description

Flying Bark Productions is a dynamic and innovative animation studio dedicated to pushing the boundaries of character animation and storytelling. We have a number of exciting productions underway, including a new 2D project with Disney, Netflix's Ghostbusters animated series and Stranger Things animated series, as well as an upcoming feature film, Zac Power.

This is an expression of interest for roles opening around Jan/Feb

About the role:

• Provide editorial assistance and technical support to the Editor;
• Manage the import and export of various file formats in Avid Media Composer to meet production needs;
• Work with the Editor/s on animatics, including dialogue takes, sound effects and music cues;
• Assist with assembling sequences in preparation for the editor/s to review;
• Delivering and updating scenes to and from editorial;
• Assist production with tracking of dialogue changes and updates from scratch to final dialogue;
• Record scratch track as required by Production, Director or Editor;
• Help create and maintain a library of sound effects and music cues relevant to the style of the film;
• Participate in meetings about story and edit pipeline to ensure a smooth process throughout production;
• Work with various departments, i.e.: storyboard or production to manage the flow of files from and to editorial so edits are always up to date;
• Liaise with the Editor and production crew to manage priorities and demands on a daily basis, as well as taking responsibility for general workflow within the editorial department;
• Quality control of all cuts that leave editorial;
• Adhere to the delivery schedule as outlined by Production for delivery of final materials for the film;
• Prepare various materials for studio and audience screenings.

About you:

• Thorough knowledge of Avid Media Composer;
• Shotgun experience is a plus;
• Passion for film and storytelling;
• Good eye for detail;
• Problem solving technical issues within Editorial;
• Thorough approach to technical workflows and quality control;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Excellent time management skills;
• Ability to flag issues that may impact on the successful delivery of assets within the Production schedule;
• Ability to work and contribute in a collaborative team environment.
