Job summary

Flying Bark Productions is seeking an Editorial Assistant to provide editorial support and technical assistance to the Editor. The role involves managing imports/exports in Avid Media Composer, working on animatics, dialogue, sound cues, and helping assemble sequences for review.

Hybrid work arrangement with opportunities to contribute across multiple exciting projects including 2D/3D animation and upcoming features. Strong knowledge of Avid MC and collaborative teamwork are essential.

Qualifications

• Thorough knowledge of Avid Media Composer.
• Shotgun experience is a plus.
• Excellent communication skills and time management are essential.
• Ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide editorial assistance and technical support to the Editor.
• Manage the import and export of various file formats in Avid Media Composer to meet production needs.
• Work with Editors on animatics, including dialogue takes, sound effects and music cues.
• Assist with assembling sequences in preparation for Editors to review.
• Deliver and update scenes to and from editorial.
• Assist production with tracking dialogue changes from scratch to final dialogue.
• Record scratch track as required by Production, Director or Editor.
• Help create and maintain a library of sound effects and music cues relevant to the style of the film.
• Participate in meetings about story and edit pipeline to ensure a smooth process.

Flying Bark Productions is a dynamic and innovative animation studio dedicated to pushing the boundaries of character animation and storytelling. We have a number of exciting productions underway, including a new 2D project with Disney, Netflix's Ghostbusters animated series and Stranger Things animated series, as well as an upcoming feature film, Zac Power.

About the role:

• Provide editorial assistance and technical support to the Editor;
• Manage the import and export of various file formats in Avid Media Composer to meet production needs;
• Work with the Editor/s on animatics, including dialogue takes, sound effects and music cues;
• Assist with assembling sequences in preparation for the editor/s to review;
• Delivering and updating scenes to and from editorial;
• Assist production with tracking of dialogue changes and updates from scratch to final dialogue;
• Record scratch track as required by Production, Director or Editor;
• Help create and maintain a library of sound effects and music cues relevant to the style of the film;
• Participate in meetings about story and edit pipeline to ensure a smooth process throughout production;
• Work with various departments, i.e.: storyboard or production to manage the flow of files from and to editorial so edits are always up to date;
• Liaise with the Editor and production crew to manage priorities and demands on a daily basis, as well as taking responsibility for general workflow within the editorial department;
• Quality control of all cuts that leave editorial;
• Adhere to the delivery schedule as outlined by Production for delivery of final materials for the film;
• Prepare various materials for studio and audience screenings.

About you:

• Thorough knowledge of Avid Media Composer;
• Shotgun experience is a plus;
• Passion for film and storytelling;
• Good eye for detail;
• Problem solving technical issues within Editorial;
• Thorough approach to technical workflows and quality control;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Excellent time management skills;
• Ability to flag issues that may impact on the successful delivery of assets within the Production schedule;
• Ability to work and contribute in a collaborative team environment.
