Job summary

Brisbane City Council seeks an ecologist/environmental scientist to provide ecological advice for licence and permit assessments and to project manage applications, ensuring compliance with legislation and council standards.

The role requires knowledge of ecological processes, strong communication skills and the ability to work independently within a multidisciplinary team, contributing to timely and high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications

• Ability to interpret relevant legislation, policies, guidelines and practices as they relate to ecological, bushfire risk and environmental management.
• Knowledge of ecological processes and initiatives relating to protection and management and ability to assess licences and permits.
• Written and oral communication and customer service skills including liaison, consultation and presentations to committees, groups and courts.
• Ability to negotiate outcomes and exercise discretion when resolving issues amidst competing interests.
• Strong research, analytical, problem solving and time management skills.
• Ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Provide ecological advice for the assessment of licences and permits to comply with legislation, policy, Local Laws and approvals.
• Project manage applications to meet agreed service standards.
• Support the transformation of licensing, permitting and application services.
