Job summary

Trinity Christian School in Canberra, ACT, is seeking a dedicated Early Learning Centre educator to join our permanent, full-time team. You will provide high-quality Christian-based education and care to children aged in our ELC, aligned with the school’s vision of Love, Nurture and Service.

As part of a collaborative team, you will document learning, implement developmentally appropriate programs, and participate in all ELC activities within a Monday to Friday roster from 8am to 6pm.

Qualifications

• Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (or actively working towards).
• Current First Aid Certificate.
• Current Working With Vulnerable People (WWVP) card.

Responsibilities

• Providing quality, Christian based education and care for each child in accordance with the National Quality Framework.
• Participating in the development, implementation and evaluation of relevant educational programs in line with the Early Years Learning Framework.
• Participating in documenting children’s learning in Seesaw, portfolios, classroom displays.
• Working with the centre’s Educational Leader and Teachers to further develop professional skills and knowledge.
• Participating in all ELC activities, using your initiative to complete daily tasks to support the team and children each day.
• Actively contributing to a positive and professional team culture in the ELC and across the Trinity School Community, upholding the school values.
• Complying with all legislative requirements and centre/school policies and how to apply them in practice.
• Participation in other school activities as directed.

To provide high quality early childhood education and care to children accessing programs at our Early Learning Centre (ELC) in a manner that shows a professional commitment to children and their families, and that is God honouring and consistent with the school’s vision to provide a Christ-centred education in a learning community of Love, Nurture and Service.The team member is responsible to the Principal through the Head of School (P-5) and Director of the ELC. This is a permanent position (part-time or full-time) with four weeks annual leave (various shifts available). The ELC is open from 8am – 6pm and educators are expected to work within those hours as per the roster.

Key Areas of Responsibility

• Providing quality, Christian based education and care for each child in accordance with the National Quality Framework.

Selection Criteria

• Be a committed Christian with a clear understanding of, and support for, education in a Christian School setting.
• Have a genuine interest in the welfare of students and also in their social, spiritual and academic development.
• Have the ability to facilitate and engage children in authentic early childhood programs.
• Have an understanding of relevant early childhood legislation and regulations which govern the provision of early childhood programs.
• Have the ability to documentation children’s learning using a variety of methods.
• Demonstrate the ability to work successfully as part of a team including the ability to critically reflect on your practice and attitudes and how these affect the wider team culture.
• Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills to contribute to a positive and professional team culture.
• Demonstrate a growth mindset and a willingness to attend and participate in professional development opportunities.
