Job summary

Montessori Academy Mount Pritchard is seeking a diligent Early Childhood Kitchenhand for our Mount Pritchard Centre. This full-time role focuses on food preparation for children and maintaining high safety standards in a Montessori environment.

You will plate meals, assist with service to classrooms, and help with cleaning and safety procedures while promoting a caring, collaborative team culture. The role requires a Food Safety Supervisor Certificate, a current Working with Children Check, and

Qualifications

• Food safety and handling knowledge for school-age children.
• Mandatory Working with Children Check and First Aid eligibility.
• Strong written and verbal communication required.
• Ability to work cooperatively within a classroom team.
• Understanding of family communications and engagement.
• Familiarity with National Quality Framework/Standards is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Food preparation for morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and snacks.
• Ensure safe food handling for children with allergies.
• Plate meals and deliver to classrooms.
• Kitchen cleaning and dishwashing duties.
• Maintain office, staffroom and common area cleanliness.
• Support Montessori methods in parent communications.

Responsibilities:

• Food preparation for morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and late afternoon snack
• Safe food handling for allergic/anaphylactic children
• Meal plating and service and taking to classrooms
• Kitchen cleaning and dishwashing
• Cleaning of office, staffroom, foyer and other areas if needed
• Cutting of varied meats
• Food safety and hygiene procedures
• Positively promote and market the centre to families and the community
• Be an advocate of the Montessori Method to parents and potential clients
• Respect and support colleagues by developing positive and ethical channels of communication that are based on principles of mutual respect, equity and fairness
• Attend meetings as requested
• Become familiar with Montessori Academy Policies and Procedures

Key Competencies:

• Food Safety Supervisor Certificate
• Current Working with Children Check
• First Aid Certificate or willing to obtain one
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively and cooperatively in a team environment
• Strong understanding of the importance of family communications
• Strong understanding of the National Quality Framework and National Quality Standard
