Job summary

Heywood & District Secondary College is seeking an English 7-12 and Humanities 7-12 classroom teacher to deliver literacy and numeracy integrated lessons and respond to diverse student needs. The role focuses on planning, preparation and delivering high-quality teaching to achieve strong student outcomes, with opportunities to engage in professional learning and contribute to school initiatives.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including the ability to incorporate the teaching of literacy and numeracy skills.
• Demonstrated experience in planning for and implementing high impact teaching strategies, guided by how students learn, and evaluating the impact of learning and teaching programs on student learning growth.
• Demonstrated experience in monitoring and assessing student learning and using data to inform teaching practice and provide feedback to students and parents.
• Demonstrated interpersonal and communication skills and collaboration with students, parents, colleagues and the school community to support student learning, wellbeing and engagement.
• Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with department values and ongoing professional learning to improve teaching quality.
• Capacity to show initiative and contribute to a positive school culture aligned with Heywood & District Secondary College.

Responsibilities

• Direct teaching of groups of students and individual students.
• Contributing to development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum programs.
• Undertaking other classroom teaching related and organisational duties as determined by the principal.
• Participating in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions.
• Undertaking other non-teaching supervisory duties.
