Job summary

Coates Hire Operations Pty Limited in Canberra's Hume branch is seeking a reliable driver/yard hand to join our team. You will be responsible for safe delivery and pickup of equipment, securing loads, and maintaining accurate equipment storage in a fast-paced environment.

The role requires a valid heavy vehicle licence, and licences for EWP or Tilt trays are highly regarded. A strong safety mindset and basic tech skills are essential, with opportunities for training and career progression.

Responsibilities

• Safe, professional delivery/pickup of equipment to/from site locations.
• Secure freight loads to ensure safe transport.
• Maintain knowledge of equipment storage/locations for efficient retrieval.
• Operate and manoeuvre equipment on tilt trays (boom lifts, scissor lifts, forklifts).
• Perform general yard duties to keep the yard organized and safe.

Job description

This role, based out of our Hume branch is often the face of Coates and requires exceptionalcustomer service and professionalism, as well as working to tight deadlines and ensuring and maintaining a high standard of safety.

• Safe, professional and timely delivery/pick up of equipment to and from various site locations.
• Effectively secure freight load to ensure successful delivery
• Maintain knowledge of equipment storage and location to ensure efficient retrieval.
• Operate and manoeuvre equipment on and off a tilt tray e.g. boom lifts, scissor lifts, forklifts
• Perform general yard duties ensuring an organised and safe yard

What you’ll bring to the role

• A valid heavy vehicle driver’s license. (EWP and Tilt tray licences are highly regarded)
• Experience loading and unloading equipment using correct restraint
• A clean driving record and a commitment to the importance of safety – you are an expert on the chain of responsibility.
• Adequate technology skills
