Job summary

Star Drilling is seeking an experienced Geotechnical/Environmental Driller for a permanent, full-time role based in Orange NSW with some interstate travel. The job offers modern rigs, overtime, and productivity bonuses, with a strong focus on safety and career progression.

Ideal candidates have 3+ years of above-ground drilling experience, relevant licences, and a proactive, safety-first approach. Regional NSW residents near Orange are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• 3+ years' above-ground geotechnical and/or environmental drilling experience
• MR licence with HR manual licence strongly preferred
• Driller's or Water Well Licence preferred, or willingness to obtain one
• Rail Industry Worker Card preferred
• Strong commitment to safety and safe drilling practices
• Ability to undertake basic preventative maintenance and servicing
• Flexibility for overtime and some weekend work
• Willingness to work interstate approximately 50% of the time
• Australian working rights

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor multiple drilling methods (sonic, auger, rotary air, rotary mud).
• Travel to Orange NSW and occasionally interstate locations.
• Maintain and service drilling rigs and equipment.
• Adhere to safety procedures and site logistics.
• Collaborate with a professional drilling team.

About the role

Whilst the Star Drilling is based in Thomastown, this role will work in Orange NSW with a very small amount of time working across a diverse range of geotechnical and environmental drilling projects throughout Victoria and interstate.

Star Drilling operates a fleet of 18 drilling rigs, ranging from large sonic rigs through to smaller Geoprobes.

Our work gives experienced drillers the opportunity to use and develop their skills across a range of drilling methods, including:

• Sonic drilling
• Auger drilling
• Rotary air
• Rotary Mud

This is not a full-time FIFO position.

About you

We’re looking for an experienced driller who takes pride in doing the job properly, works well with their crew and wants to be part of a professional drilling business.

Ideally, you will have:

• 3+ years' above-ground geotechnical and/or environmental drilling experience
• A minimum MR licence, with an HR manual licence strongly preferred
• Construction Industry Induction Card
• Driller's or Water Well Licence preferred, or willingness to obtain one
• Rail Industry Worker Card preferred
• Good mechanical aptitude and the ability to undertake basic preventative maintenance and servicing
• A strong commitment to safety and safe drilling practices
• The physical fitness required for drilling operations
• A positive, practical and proactive approach
• Flexibility to undertake regular overtime and some weekend work
• Flexibility to work interstate approximately 50% of the time
• Australian working rights
