Job summary

Anglo American Australia is seeking a Dragline Mining Engineer to provide dedicated technical support to dragline operations. You will contribute to front‑end daily planning and short‑term schedules and ensure integration with supporting operations at Capcoal Surface Operations.

The role offers opportunities to be involved in mine plan development during a period of transition and growth, with a strong emphasis on safety, reliability and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
• A couple of years’ experience in a mining engineering role.
• Dragline experience or exposure to large‑scale open‑cut operations preferred.
• Experience in short‑term mine planning, scheduling or design.
• Familiarity with dragline planning and/or mining design software.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with operations teams.
• Practical execution‑focused approach to engineering.
• Commitment to safety, compliance and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Developing and maintaining short‑term dragline schedules and designs.
• Supporting daily production planning and dragline sequencing.
• Providing technical advice to dragline operations for safe and efficient execution.
• Assisting with spoil placement strategies, strip sequencing and design optimisation.
• Working closely with operations and planning teams to align plans with execution.
• Contributing to mine plans that support future growth and production targets.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within dragline operations.
• Maintaining compliance with safety, environmental and operational standards.
