Job summary

Anglo American is seeking a Dragline Mining Engineer for Capcoal Surface Operations, Middlemount, to provide dedicated technical support to dragline operations, focusing on short-term planning, design and execution. Reporting to the Technical Services Superintendent, you will help enable safe, efficient and reliable dragline performance while supporting broader site objectives.

You will contribute to front-end daily planning and short-term schedules, ensuring dragline activities are integrated

Qualifications

• A tertiary qualification in Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• A couple of years’ experience in a mining engineering role.
• Dragline experience or exposure to large-scale open-cut operations preferred.
• Experience in short-term mine planning, scheduling or design.
• Familiarity with dragline planning and mining design software.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with operational teams.
• Safety, compliance and continuous improvement focus.

Responsibilities

• Developing and maintaining short-term dragline schedules and designs.
• Supporting daily production planning and dragline sequencing.
• Providing technical advice to dragline operations to support safe and efficient execution.
• Assisting with spoil placement strategies, strip sequencing and design optimisation.
• Working with operations and planning teams to align plans with execution.
• Contributing to mine plans that support future growth and targets.
• Supporting continuous improvement initiatives within dragline operations.
• Maintaining compliance with safety, environmental and operational standards.
