Job summary

Balmain Dog Walkers is seeking a Dog Walker / Pet Care Professional to join our small, friendly team in the Inner West. This role offers an immediate start with Monday–Friday shifts (4–7 hours, start around 8:45–9:00 am) and a path toward full-time opportunities as you gain experience.

We provide thorough, paid training on how to safely manage groups of dogs. You’ll be in a supportive environment that values reliability, calmness under pressure, and a caring attitude toward dogs and clients.

Qualifications

• Experience with dogs is highly valued, but full training is provided.
• A current Australian driver’s licence is required and a safe driving record.
• Australian working rights are required for the role.

Responsibilities

• Collect dogs from homes in Balmain and Rozelle.
• Walk groups of up to four well-socialised dogs.
• Explore local parks and harbourside walks.
• Transport dogs between home and walks.
• Monitor dog behaviour, health and wellbeing.
• Take photos/videos for clients.
• Update walks in the dog-walking app.

We're looking for another Dog Walker / Pet Care Professional to join us.

Previous dog handling or animal care experience would be wonderful, but you don't need to arrive knowing everything.

We provide thorough, paid training and will teach you how we safely manage our dogs and group walks.

What You'll Be Doing

Your days will include:

• Collecting dogs from their homes around Balmain and Rozelle.
• Walking groups of up to four trained, well-socialised dogs.
• Exploring our beautiful local parks and harbourside walking areas, while staying engaged with and focused on the dogs in your care.
• Safely transporting dogs between home and walks.
• Keeping an eye on each dog's behaviour, health and wellbeing.
• Taking photos and little videos for our clients.
• Updating walks through our dog-walking app.
• Getting to know our dogs and becoming one of their favourite people.

Our walks include both on-leash walking and supervised off-leash exercise in appropriate, safe areas.

As your skills and confidence develop, you'll gradually progress towards managing your own regular groups independently.

• Are looking for a long-term role where you can really get to know the dogs and their families.

Experience in dog walking, dog daycare, pet sitting, kennels, veterinary nursing, dog training, rescue or other animal care is highly regarded.

Professional group dog-walking experience is a bonus, but it isn't essential. We'll teach the right person.

Hours

This is a Monday to Friday role, with shifts generally ranging from approximately 4–7 hours per day.

You must be available at least Monday to Thursday during daytime hours. Friday availability is highly desirable. Start time is usually around 8:45-10am, depending on our arrangements.

We're looking for someone who wants to become a long-term part of our team. For the right person, there is opportunity to increase hours and potentially progress into a full-time role over time.

Pay

$33–$38 per hour + superannuation, depending on professional experience.

Fuel allowance is provided if using your own suitable vehicle.

Having your own vehicle is preferred, but not essential. We're happy to discuss options with the right person.

A Few Practical Things

You'll need:

• A current Australian driver's licence and good driving record. Manual driving skills are needed for our vehicle. Not if you use your own.
• Australian working rights suitable for the role.
• A NSW Police Check, or willingness to obtain one.
• A smartphone for our dog-walking app, photos and team communication.
• To be comfortable working outdoors in different weather.
• To be physically able to walk and safely handle dogs for several hours across the day.
