Job summary

St Mary's Catholic College, Woree in Cairns invites applications for a Diverse Learning Officer. You will provide pastoral and learning support to students, assist teachers, and help engage learners across classrooms, with accommodation for diverse needs and language support where required.

The role is term-time, permanent (31 hours), with an hourly rate of $34.17 to $35.62 gross per hour plus 12.75% employer superannuation. Applications close shortly after the posted closing date.

Qualifications

• Provide pastoral and learning support to students in the school environment.
• Support teachers and students as directed by classroom staff.
• Hold a Working with Children Blue Card and align with Catholic Education ethos.

Responsibilities

• Maintain appropriate behaviours when engaging with children.
• Work in classrooms with teachers providing support for students.
• Assist students to engage in learning and assessment as directed by the classroom teacher.
• Liaise with teachers to determine the progress and well-being of students at the College.
• Support students with diverse needs including cognitive, sensory, physical and EAL.
• Support mobility impaired students.
• Assist the coordination and promotion of cultural education events and programs.
• Operate audio-visual aids, duplicating, issuing learning materials and clerical duties.
• Be part of a team of educators committed to excellence.
