Job summary

The Disability Support Worker role at Cerebral Palsy Alliance (CPA) exists to provide high-quality, person-centred support to people with disabilities. This casual daytime position based at the Allambie Heights centre involves helping clients live independently, with activities that promote dignity, safety and wellbeing.

You'll assist with daily living skills, social engagement, and community participation, including personal care where required, manual handling, and 1:1 or small-group support.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Disability Support Worker preferred.
• Ability to meet the inherent physical requirements of the role.
• Current NSW Driver’s Licence (minimum P2).
• NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working With Children Check may be required.
• First Aid & CPR certifications are desirable.

• Provide person-centred support to clients in day programs or at the CPA centre.
• Assist with daily living skills, including personal care where required.

Job description

The Disability Support Worker role at CPA exists to provide high-quality, person-centered support to people with disabilities.

You will play a vital role in empowering clients to live as independently as possible, by helping them to achieve their goals and supporting their day-to-day wellbeing, dignity and quality of life.

About the Clients:

As a Disability Support Worker, you will support clients living with a range of disabilities, including Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Down syndrome, intellectual disabilities, and physical disabilities. Some clients may also present with complex needs and behaviours of concern.

Role Overview

This role is based at the Cerebral Palsy Alliance Centre in Allambie Heights and offers the opportunity to support clients by transporting them from their homes to attend day programs, or by providing support directly at the centre.

This is a CASUAL position, with day shifts scheduled from 9:15 AM to 3:15 PM. Applicants must be available to work Monday - Friday.

You will assist with daily living skills, social engagement, and community participation, including personal care (where required), manual handling, medication support (if trained), behaviour support strategies, and 1:1 or small group support.

Each day, you will encourage independence, build skills and confidence, promote inclusion, support participant choice, facilitate activities and outings, follow individual support plans, document progress, and work collaboratively with families and allied health professionals.
