Job summary

Kalura is seeking a compassionate Disability Support Worker to join our team on a casual basis across Greater Sydney. You will provide direct support, assist with daily living, manage medications, and help clients achieve personal goals in a person-centred care setting.

Ideal candidates have a relevant qualification, police checks, and the ability to work across diverse Sydney communities. Flexible casual shifts and opportunities for professional development are offered.

Qualifications

• Certificate III/IV in Individual Support or Certificate III in Disability or equivalent qualification.
• Current Police Check and Working with Children Check as required.
• NDIS Worker Screening Check and Orientation online training.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct personal care and support per individual care plans.
• Administer medications safely and accurately according to plans.

About the role

We are seeking enthusiastic and compassionate Disability Support Workers to join our team across Greater Sydney. We're looking for people in all parts of Sydney - including the Inner West, Eastern Suburbs, Northern Beaches, North Shore, South Sydney, Western Sydney, and South-West Sydney - to support clients in their local communities. This is a casual position offering flexibility while making a meaningful impact in the lives of people with disabilities. You will provide direct support to individuals, helping them develop skills, maintain independence, and achieve their personal goals, as part of a dedicated team committed to high-quality, person-centred care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide direct personal care and support in accordance with clients' individual care plans and goals
• Administer and manage medications safely and accurately, in line with client care plans and organisational protocols
• Support clients with complex needs, including dementia care and behaviour support
• Implement individualised behaviour support plans and respond appropriately to behaviours of concern
• Prepare and support clients with meals safely, in accordance with dietary requirements, food safety standards, and any relevant meal plans
• Assist with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene and household management
• Support clients to develop life skills and build independence in areas such as budgeting, shopping, and community participation
• Accompany clients to community activities, appointments, and social outings to promote engagement and social inclusion
• Maintain detailed and accurate records of support provided and progress towards goals
• Communicate effectively with clients, families, and the wider support team to ensure continuity of care
• Respond with empathy and professionalism to clients' needs and concerns
• Adhere to all health and safety protocols, duty of care obligations, and organisational policies and procedures
• Contribute to a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all clients and colleagues
• Report any concerns or incidents promptly to management

What we're looking for

• A genuine passion for supporting people with disabilities and a commitment to person-centred care
• Experience supporting clients with complex needs and behaviours of concern
• Confidence administering medication, or willingness to undertake required training
• Confidence preparing meals safely, including awareness of dietary and food safety requirements
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust with clients
• Patience, empathy, and emotional resilience in challenging situations
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
• Reliability and a flexible approach to casual work arrangements
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Ability to lift and move safely, and meet the physical requirements of the role
• Comfortable using own vehicle for transportation services (travel allowances available)

Requirements

• Certificate III/IV in Individual Support, Certificate III in Disability, or relevant qualification
• Current Police Check
• NSW Driver's Licence, own vehicle, and comprehensive insurance
• Current First Aid (within 3 years)
• CPR (within 12 months)
• Citizenship / Working Rights
• Working with Children Check
• NDIS Worker Screening Check (NDISWC)
• Certificate of completion - NDIS Worker Orientation online training
• Certificate of completion - Infection Control online training
• Certificate of completion - Safe and Enjoyable Meals training
• Minimum 6 months' experience supporting clients in a home or community care setting
