Job summary

Your Way Living in Newcastle is seeking casual Disability Support Workers to join our team, supporting ILO participants in Gateshead and Argenton. You will help with daily activities, community outings, and building independence at the participant's pace, while delivering reliable, compassionate care.

Ideal candidates hold an NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain), current First Aid/CPR, a valid Australian driver’s licence with insured vehicle, and the right to work in Australia.

Qualifications

• NDIS Worker Screening Check (or willingness to obtain one before starting).
• NDIS Worker Orientation Module certificate - “Quality, Safety and You”.
• Current First Aid and CPR certificates.
• Valid Australian driver's licence and a reliably insured vehicle (km allowance paid for travel).
• The right to work in Australia; reliability and good communication.

Responsibilities

• Supporting participants to get out into the community - appointments, shopping, social outings and activities they enjoy.
• Domestic assistance around the home, including cleaning, laundry, meal preparation and grocery shopping.
• Providing support in line with each participant's support plan.
• Helping participants work towards the goals set out in their NDIS plan.
• Helping organise day-to-day life - routines, appointments, reminders and general structure.
• Encouraging participation in daily activities and building independence at the participant's own pace.
• Providing emotional support and genuine companionship.

We're looking for casual Disability Support Workers to join our team in Newcastle, with most shifts based around our homes in Gateshead and Argenton. The majority of this work supports Individualised Living Options (ILO) participants - people who have chosen how and where they live, and want support that fits around their life rather than the other way around. This role suits someone who is genuinely patient and enjoys building a proper relationship with the people they support. Our ILO participants are working towards their own goals, so a lot of the job is encouragement, consistency and turning up as someone they can rely on.
