Job summary

Lifestyle Solutions in Innisfail is seeking a compassionate Disability Support Worker to assist customers to live more independently at home and in the community. The role includes personal care, medication administration, and supporting engagement with local programs.

You will mentor clients, develop daily living skills, and maintain clear handover notes. A valid driver’s license, NDIS screening, First Aid, and empathy are essential.

Qualifications

  • Must be happy to provide personal care.
  • NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or willingness to obtain).
  • First Aid Certificate HLTAID003.
  • Current driver’s license and full comprehensive insurance.
  • Epilepsy management knowledge essential.

Responsibilities

  • Mentoring and skill development – guide customers to develop interests and hobbies.
  • Coaching independent living skills such as cooking and domestic/social skills.
  • Administering medication and adhering to individual support plans.
  • Completing clear handover notes and incident reports.
  • Providing personal care when required (toileting, showering, feeding, dressing).
  • Supporting community participation programs and activities.

Lifestyle Solutions provide innovative and flexible person-centered support for people living with a disability. Support Worker to assist a customer to become more independent, in their own home and in the community.

As a Support Worker your responsibilities will include:

  • Mentoring and skill development – guiding customers to explore and develop their personal interests/hobbies
  • Coaching independent living skills such as cooking, domestic and social skills
  • Administering medication and adherence to individual support plans
  • Completing clear, concise and factual handover notes and incident reports
  • Providing personal care such as toileting, showering, feeding and dressing when required
  • Helping customers engage with their local communities and culture through access to Community Participation Programs and recreational activities
  • Personal care is a must, and must be comfortable and knowledgeable in doing so.
  • Epilepsy management knowledge is essential.
  • Community Access will also be a requirement at certain times.
  • Strong understanding of mental health conditions (depression, anxiety, schizophrenia, mood disorders).
  • Understanding of mental health crisis management.
  • Basic computer skills (data entry, record keeping, scanning, printing).

  • Be willing to be work a variety of shifts which includes mornings, afternoons, evenings, awake shifts, sleepovers and weekends
  • Versatile communication skills including the ability to interact with both verbal and non-verbal customers
  • Current driver’s license (mandatory requirement)
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or be willing to obtain)
  • Current First Aid Certificate, HLTAID003
  • Formal qualifications in Disability, Community Services, or similar, would be advantageous
  • Be compassionate, reliable and punctual
