Job summary

Wise Disability Support Services in Bendigo, VIC is seeking enthusiastic Support Workers to assist individuals with disabilities across the community. You will help with daily living, community participation, and skill development, while maintaining safe, respectful support.

We are currently seeking enthusiastic, compassionate, and dedicated Support Workers to join our growing team.

The Role

As a Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in empowering our clients to achieve their personal goals, enhance their daily living skills, and actively participate in their communities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Domestic Support: Assisting with light household tasks, meal preparation, and maintaining a clean and safe living environment.
• Community Participation: Supporting clients to engage in social activities, appointments, hobbies, and educational or employment opportunities outside the home.
• Skill Development: Implementing personalised support plans focused on building independence, social skills, life skills, and confidence.
• Health and Well-being: Monitoring and reporting on clients' physical and emotional well-being, including administering medication as required (with appropriate training).
• Documentation: Maintaining accurate, professional, and timely records of support provided and any incidents/observations.

What We're Looking For - Criteria

Essential:

• Demonstrated commitment to the rights and inclusion of people with disabilities.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and active listening skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team, showing initiative and flexibility.
• Current First Aid and CPR certificates (or willingness to obtain).
• Current Driver's License and reliable, registered and insured vehicle.
• Successful completion of a NDIS Worker Screening Check and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain).

Desirable (but not essential):

• Qualifications in Individual Support, Disability, Youth Work or similar field.
• Previous experience working in the disability sector is a bonus however not critical as we will train you.
