Job summary

Direct Care Resources is seeking experienced Disability & Child Safety Support Workers to assist children and young people across Logan and Ipswich. You will build trust, provide day-to-day support in home settings and help with school attendance, activities and community participation.

You will use trauma-informed, person-centred approaches and maintain professional boundaries while delivering consistent care. Flexibility for AM/PM, weekends and sleepovers is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children or young people in safety or residential settings.
• Ability to work independently and within a care team.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Sound judgement, resilience and emotional maturity.
• Commitment to safety, wellbeing and development of young people.
• Flexibility to work across AM/PM, weekends, overnight and sleepovers.

Responsibilities

• Build safe, respectful and consistent relationships with children and young people.
• Provide day‑to‑day support within a home environment.
• Support school attendance, appointments, activities and community participation.
• Help young people develop everyday living skills, routines and independence.
• Use trauma‑informed and person‑centred approaches.
• Respond calmly and appropriately to challenging situations and behaviours.
• Maintain professional boundaries while creating a supportive environment.
• Administer medication in line with individual plans and DCR procedures.
• Complete accurate shift notes, handovers and incident documentation.
• Work closely with colleagues and other stakeholders to provide consistent care.
