Sun City Country Club in Yanchep, Western Australia, seeks a Director of Golf to lead Golf Operations, Pro Shop and member experience. You will shape the department, mentor staff, manage budgets, and drive development programmes with the General Manager.
Reporting to the General Manager, you will implement strategic plans, grow golf participation, manage events, and build strong industry partnerships while upholding safe, compliant operations.
Sun City Country Club is looking for an exceptional golf industry professional ready to take the next significant step in their career.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Director of Golf will lead the Club’s Golf Operations, people, Pro Shop and retail, competitions, events, member experience and golf development.
We are looking for more than an experienced golf operator. We are looking for a future industry leader.
Someone who understands golf, can lead and develop people, brings ideas rather than waiting for them, understands the commercial side of the business and wants to continue developing broader management and leadership capability.
In return, Sun City will provide genuine responsibility, autonomy and a strong commitment to the successful applicant’s education, professional development and career growth.
Located in Yanchep, approximately 45 minutes north of Perth, Sun City Country Club provides an outstanding golfing environment for more than 800 golf members and the growing surrounding community.
The Club features an 18-hole golf course recognised among Australia’s Top 100 Public Access Courses, together with a large grass driving range, chipping area and putting green.
With Golf Operations now under direct Club management, Sun City is entering an exciting new phase with opportunities to further develop our member experience, Pro Shop, events, golf development programmes and broader golf services.
The Director of Golf will take ownership of the performance and continued development of the Golf Operations Department, working closely with the General Manager and wider management team.
You will be an experienced golf industry professional ready to take genuine ownership of a complete Golf Operations department. You may currently be a Director of Golf, Golf Operations Manager, Assistant Professional, Golf Services Manager or senior golf industry professional ready for greater responsibility.
A PGA of Australia qualification, or recognised qualifications in golf management, business, leadership, sport management or related disciplines, will be highly regarded.
WE WILL INVEST IN YOUR DEVELOPMENT
A structured professional development and education programme will be established with the successful applicant, aligned with their experience, development needs and longer-term career objectives.
The Club will actively support relevant education, training, networking and professional development through Golf Management Australia (GMA), the PGA of Australia and other recognised golf and club industry programmes.
Development opportunities may include:
We do not expect the successful applicant to know everything on day one. We do expect them to want to keep learning.
Lead Golf Operations, rather than simply work within them.
Genuine autonomy, accountability and opportunity to make an impact.
Direct working relationship with the General Manager.
More than 800 golf members and an established golf operation.
Opportunity to shape the Golf Operations structure, standards and culture.
Dedicated Teaching Professional & Game Development support.
Structured investment in your professional development, including relevant GMA and PGA education, training and networking opportunities.
Exposure to broader areas of Club management.
Opportunities to build your industry network and professional profile.
A highly competitive remuneration package, positioned towards the upper end of comparable golf industry leadership roles and commensurate with the experience and capability of the successful applicant.
For suitably qualified applicants, opportunities will be available to provide golf coaching within agreed working hours, with coaching commissions and remuneration arrangements negotiated with the successful applicant.
Staff playing privileges and Club benefits.
Sun Country Club offers a highly competitive remuneration package, benchmarked with comparable golf industry leadership roles, reflecting the successful applicant’s experience and capability.
