Job summary

The Onset Group seeks a Director of Engineering in Sydney to lead an engineering organisation of about 40 people in a hybrid environment. The role focuses on building stronger managers, improving how the team works, and introducing the right level of structure without slowing delivery.

Ideal candidates are experienced engineering leaders or strong up-and-coming leaders ready for a broader scope, reporting to the CPTO and shaping the function with the team.

Qualifications

• Proven experience leading large engineering teams.
• Strong ability to develop managers and technical leaders.
• Demonstrated strategic and hands-on technical judgement.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop an engineering organisation of ~40 people.
• Build and coach Engineering Managers and senior technical leaders.
• Improve delivery, SDLC, QA, reliability and engineering effectiveness.
• Drive practical adoption of AI and agentic engineering.
• Work closely with Product and Design on high-volume consumer and marketplace products.
