The Sands Torquay is seeking a senior Commercial Director to unite revenue, marketing, and communications across the resort, including the Golf Club, Health Club and Conference facilities.
Reporting to the General Manager, you will lead a multi-disciplinary team and partner with owners and the management company to set strategy, budgets and targets for five business units on this iconic coastal property.
The Sands Torquay is more than a hotel. Alongside 112 guest rooms, the resort is home to a stunning restaurant and bar, a busy conference and events business, a championship golf club and a full health club with gym, pool and fitness classes. It’s a rare property where every part of the business has a commercial story to tell, and we’re looking for the leader to bring those stories together. We work closely with hotel owners to lift performance, and we back our leaders with the support of an experienced mangement team.
Reporting to the General Manager, the Commercial Director holds overall responsibility for revenue, marketing and communications, revenue management and digital marketing across the whole resort. This is a newly shaped role that brings sales, marketing, events and revenue under one leader, so each area works towards shared goals rather than in isolation.
You’ll lead a team that includes the Sales and Community Events / Partnerships Manager, Conference and Events Manager, Marketing Manager and the Reservations team. You’ll also be the key internal contact for our revenue management partner.
Key responsibilities include:
In your first three to six months, you’ll set working rhythms with your team, align existing plans under one strategy, identify quick wins and build a consistent reporting pack for the General Manager.
You’re a senior commercial leader who can set the big-picture direction and still roll up your sleeves when the detail matters. You’ll bring:
Experience in hospitality, tourism, golf, club or leisure environments, or working with outsourced functions such as revenue management, will be highly regarded. A tertiary qualification in business, marketing or hospitality management is desirable.
