Job summary

AirTrunk, a premier hyperscale data centre operator in Australia, seeks a Director of Electrical Systems to lead a multidisciplinary team based in Sydney (or Singapore). You will shape operational standards, drive design & procurement collaboration, and ensure reliable electrical infrastructure across APAC.

The role requires 10+ years in data centres, hyperscale APAC experience, and strong commercial acumen, with regular travel across the region.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in data centres or mission critical environments.
• Experience with data centre operators and hyperscale APAC.
• Tenured experience managing a team of specialist electrical engineers.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration across AirTrunk teams.
• Subject matter expert for Electrical Systems operations (LV/MV/HV).
• Strong commercial acumen for engineering decisions.
• Willing to travel across APAC regions.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of Electrical specialists to ensure effective solutions implementation and issue resolution.
• Represent Technical Operations in all design aspects of new builds and upgrades including vendor selection.
• Define & augment product specifications with anOperational Lens
• Define the required maintenance (frequency and scope) on all electrical critical infrastructure & develop standards across the portfolio.
• Partner with site operations on event RCAs, product failures, risks and be the central Electrical Systems feedback loop for our design / procurement teams.
• Oversight and resolution of the Electrical operational aspects of new project deployments.
• Development of Electrical operations strategies for new sites across APAC, with focus on local codes & regulations.
• Support operational incidents and escalation with technical expertise.
• Effective and timely Problem resolution within Electrical Systems.
• Vendor engagement on product performance

A Snapshot

As Director of Electrical Systems based in Sydney or Singapore, you will report to the Senior Director -Technical Operations and work closely with various teams and leadership across the Asia Pacific region, making your mark in several ways:

• You are a multi disciplined data centre technical operations SME
• Multiskilled with electrical (HV/MV/LV) experience and knowledge across a wide range of asset types and data centre designs.
• You are a highly experienced technical manager with great communication skills and a leader of leaders.
• As the Director of Electrical Systems, you will interface with key areas of the business such as Design & innovation, construction, commissioning & procurement as the voice of the customer.

Your Day to Day

• Manage a team of Electrical specialists to ensure effective solutions implementation and issue resolution.
• Represent Technical Operations in all design aspects of new builds and upgrades including vendor selection. FWT/FOK, Commissioning and testing as needed.
• Define & augment when required our product specifications with an “Operational Lens”
• Define the required maintenance (frequency and scope) on all electrical critical infrastructure & develop standards which will be implemented across the portfolio.
• Partner with site operations on event RCA’s, product failures, risks and be the central Electrical Systems feedback loop for our design / procurement teams.
• Oversight and resolution of the Electrical operational aspects of new project deployments.
• Development of Electrical operations strategies for new sites across APAC, with a focus on local codes & regulations especially in emerging regions where codes are evolving.
• Support operational incidents and escalation with technical expertise.
• Effective and timely Problem resolution within Electrical Systems.
• Vendor engagement on product performance

Requirements

• You have 10+ years of experience in working in either data centres or mission critical environments
• Ideally, you have experience working for a data centre operator and have previous hyperscale experience in the APAC market
• You have tenured experience with managing a team of specialist electrical engineers.
• You are a strong team player and exceptional communicator with influencing skills – working across partner teams in AirTrunk such as Development, Design/ Procurement.
• You are the subject matter expert for all aspects of Electrical Systems operations including aspects such Low/Medium/High Voltage installations.
• Ideally, you have strong commercial acumen to understand the commercial implications of engineering decisions
• You are willing to travel to other APAC regions on a regular basis
