Job summary

Glamorgan Spring Bay Council in Tasmania seeks a Director Corporate and Financial Services to lead finance, customer services, rates, records management, IT, and digital transformation. Reporting directly to the CEO and forming part of the Executive Leadership Team, the Director Corporate & Financial Services will lead a diverse portfolio encompassing finance, customer service, rates, records management, information technology, digital transformation, and community assets including the East Coast Heritage Museum.

Council is seeking a seasoned and credible leader with the career maturity, judgement and resilience to guide a business unit through a period of positive change while building culture, capability and confidence across the organisation.

Leading a team of eight, you will bring a calm, measured and people-focused leadership style. You will know how to navigate competing priorities, create psychological safety, empower others to succeed, and genuinely listen to the ideas and expertise within your team. Equally, you will be confident making decisions, setting direction and delivering outcomes.

A key focus of the role will be supporting Council's digital transformation journey. While significant opportunities exist, the program is still in its infancy and requires a pragmatic leader who can balance ambition with reality, bringing people along the journey and implementing sustainable improvement at the right pace.

About You

You are an experienced finance and corporate services leader who can demonstrate:

  • Significant senior leadership experience within local government, public sector or a similarly complex environment
  • Degree qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, or substantial equivalent experience
  • Strong strategic and operational financial management capability
  • Experience leading organisational change and continuous improvement initiatives
  • A collaborative and empowering leadership style that builds trust, engagement and team morale
