Job summary

BDO Australia is seeking a Senior Finance Professional to join the CFO Advisory team in Sydney. You will partner with CFOs to navigate change, address complex finance and reporting challenges, and respond to evolving regulatory requirements with practical, commercially-focused solutions that strengthen clients’ finance functions.

You will bring broad experience across financial reporting frameworks, IFRS concepts, finance transformation and governance to help clients strengthen their finance

Qualifications

• CA/CPA or equivalent professional qualification.
• Extensive experience managing and delivering finance functions, financial reporting, governance, controls, process improvement and finance transformation.
• Sound knowledge of IFRS and corporate reporting requirements, including climate-related reporting.
• Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders.
• Proven track record in business development, client relationship management and revenue generation.
• Proven people leadership capability with experience coaching and developing teams.
• Experience leading large, multidisciplinary project teams.
• Understanding of sustainability-related information informing financial planning and forecasting (IFRS valued).

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of complex CFO Advisory engagements from scoping to execution and closure.
• Provide strategic advice to CFOs and finance leaders on function effectiveness, governance and operating models.
• Lead finance transformation programs including process improvement and design.
• Deliver IFRS advisory services and technical accounting to clients.
• Develop client networks and identify opportunities to grow revenue across CFO Advisory.

Key Responsibilities:

Client Service & Advisory Delivery

• Lead the delivery of complex CFO Advisory engagements from scoping through to execution and closure.
• Providestrategic advice to CFOs and finance leaders on finance function effectiveness, governance, operatingmodelsand transformation initiatives.
• Lead finance transformation programs, including process improvement, organisationaldesignand finance capability uplift.
• Deliver technical accounting, financialreportingand IFRS advisory services to clients.

Business Development & Practice Growth

• Develop andmaintainstrong client and referral networks.
• Identifynew business opportunities and contribute to revenue growth across CFO Advisory and the broader Advisory practice.
• Lead the preparation of proposals,tendersand client presentations.

Climate-related Financial Disclosures

• Assistclients operationalise and embed climate reporting requirements, particularly around financial modelling, data collection and data integrity, forecasting, business performance analysis, finance governance, processdesignand integration into finance systems

Leadership & People Development

• Lead,mentorand develop Managers, Assistant Managers, Senior Consultants and Consultants.
• Drive a high-performance and collaborative team culture.
• Provide coaching, technical guidance and performance feedback.
• Support recruitment, workforceplanningand capability development initiatives.

Practice Management

• Oversee engagement economics, budgeting, resourceplanningand profitability.
• Monitor project risks and ensure compliance with BDO’s quality and risk management framework.
• Contribute to strategic planning and operational management of the CFO Advisory service line.

About You

Combined with:

• CA,CPAor equivalent professional qualification

• Sound knowledge of IFRS and corporate reporting requirements, with an appreciation of climate-related reporting and its interaction with finance processes
• Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with senior stakeholders
• Proventrack recordin business development, client relationshipmanagementand revenue generation.
• Proven people leadership capability, with experience coaching and developing teams
• Experience leading large, multidisciplinary project teams
• An understanding of how sustainability-related information informs financial planning,budgetingand forecasting, performance management, and corporate reporting (IFRS) will be highly valued.
